Seattle explosion this am.
Big-azz gas explosion 7 blocks from my shop this am. Pretty much leveled the block and blew out windows for blocks. The wife heard it at 1am, 8 miles away.

Natural gas?
Glad it was far enough away from you. Likely is is good it was 1:00 AM and not 1:00 PM. |
We heard it in Mountlake Terrace. Friend if mine says he heard it in Kirkland. I have a close friend who lives only four door down from it. They lost windows.
|
Saw it on the news this morning,I'm down in Gig Harbor, wondered how
close it was to your shop John. Pretty scary ! |
I walked down to take a look. I think the whole block and then some will be out of business for a while.
|
Not much left to catch fire.
|
Glad to hear your shop was not effected John. Looks like either the Quick Stop or Mr. Gyro was ground zero. Heard the coffee shop and bike shop were also heavily damaged. As this is at 85th and Greenwood, not going to help traffic at all while this is investigated and cleaned up.

The coffee shop is history and the bike shop to the right is heavily damaged. Definitely f'kd up our little neighborhood. Just reported that 36 businesses were damaged.
|
Fortunate it happened in the middle of the night instead of lunchtime
|
Thank goodness everyone is ok

Dayum - glad you are o.k. John. First thing I thought when I heard about this this morning was "how close to John's was this?"
Best wishes to the firefighters. Glad no one got killed - what a miracle. |
Fuch me...I was in that coffee shop Tuesday...
|
Wow. I ate at that coffee shop while you worked your magic on my pcar. How nobody gets killed in these explosions is simply beyond belief. Glad your business is OK John.
|
Glad you and your business are ok John.
|
Looks like a drone strike.....hard to believe there were no casualties.
Old gas lines? |
Yeah, old underground gas lines. 9 firemen were there looking for the leak when it blew. thankfully, just cuts and bruises. I drove by this afternoon and all the surrounding buildings are covered in plywood.
|
Phew, a bit close to home John. I'm pleased things are OK at the workshop.
|
Probably the same old gas line that supplies me, yikes!
|
John,
Whoa! Glad to know you are OK! Cheers, Eddie |
Yikes, know that area well and have had many visits to John's shop. Glad your business is ok and no one was hurt. How is it that once a gas leak is called in, PSE can't shut down main lines that supply the area to avoid something catastrophic like this? Typed as I'm sitting in front of my cozy gas fireplace......
