There's only one for sale in town with the 3.5 ecoboost, and it's a 2013. There's three more in Winona MN, a 2016, 17, and a 21. After that's it's a long drive to find one. Anyone drive a non-turbo one? Back in the day I pulled the race car on a trailer with a S-10 with the 2.8L V6. It wasn't fast but it got me to the track.

Re non-turbo, I took a cross country trip in a 2017 F150 with a 3.5 and no turbo. Not exactly the same as an Explorer but probably close. While it had sufficient power, you do have to plan for long grades, and I did not find it as "fun." However, for a truck, I did pretty good on the mpg - nearly 18!

Son had a flex with the 3.6 tt. They spent $6300 having the top end redone. Three days later a turbo went. Mechanic told them it was ok to drive. Two days later the motor sucked the oil dry and seized. 136k miles. It's in a wrecking yard now. Three things I want to avoid. Mac Struts. They cost 4x to replace than shocks. Turbos. They suck $$$. And Diesile engines.
