Death by selfie...

Yeah, it's a thing. I just read a story about a kid accidentally shooting himself in the head while taking a selfie incorporating a pistol. Apparently there have been dozens of deaths occurring while taking selfies. Who knew?

Yep, Going around the net that you are more likely to die from selfie than shark attack.
Not true statistically, but in total numbers more idiots have died taking selfies in the last few years.

The selfie was not the issue here.

I guess it's kind of like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time. Make sure you press the button on your phone, don't pull the trigger on the weapon.

Even more important:

Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to kill

My dad thought me that as step one of gun safety.

That's the logical way to do it but I don't think it applies to these idiots.

Truly fine examples of Darwinism at work. My problem is how many undocumented deaths occur from texting/distracted actions in a car, or elsewhere. They don't kill just themselves people !

+1 The process by which, via natural selection, unfit specimens remove themselves from the gene pool

Not a selfie but...

At work we had an accident a few years ago where 2 brothers were driving a F550 towing a gooseneck trailer loaded with equipment. They rear ended one of our bulkers that was slowing down to turn off of the highway.

The F550 was destroyed and both brothers were killed. The driver was taking pictures while driving and got a great photo of the back of our truck hauling liquid nitrogen moments before he hit it killing him and his brother.

His family shared the photos with us hoping we could use the photos to train our professional drivers about the hazards of distracted driving.

I can share these photos if you are interested.

I think it is a great way of cleaning the gene pool.
Sadly those idiots often takes someone with them on the way.

The first selfie.

Robert Cornelius 1839 setup the camera, took off the cap, dashed in front of the lens then stood there motionless for sometime and then replaced the cap... Job done!
(Back then film was tar or pitch based)

We've had one or two people falling off cliffs while getting as close to the edge for the ultimate selfie. At least they have photographic evidence of what went wrong LOL

Near the end of that video, there's this photo... you've got to be incredibly stupid to walk out past that huge fissure:
