Finally on the road
 

I bought this clean dry MGB that was sitting in a friends showroom for 10 years. After replacing the entire braking system and related parts. PO had put a single Spanish Weber carb on it, probably because he didn't know how to tune twin SU carbs. I converted it back to SU's and properly tuned it. Sorted out the electrical for the most part although there will always be something. After all is said and done I actually had an in-depth PA road inspection. It flunked the first time around for non working front side markers, license plate light, and windshield washers. Easy fixes. Passed with colors 3 days later. I think a set of Panasports (15") are in it's future. Right now i'm just gonna drive it to finish sorting it all out.

Well done. That takes me back to the 70's when I owned one. What are your plans going to be? Keep it for the long haul or?

Awesome. And thanks for putting a cool car back to the way it's supposed to be w the carbs, things like that always irk me unless they are a legitimate upgrade.

Panasports would look cool but I think it's a handsome little car on the wheels it has as well. I have great memories of riding in parents friend's MGB as a 9 year old in 1968. Have a great summer! :cool:

Looks very cool, David - congrats! Especially on installing the SU's...it's a great little carb. I had them on my '69 Volvo 145S, as well.

Keep a squirt can of ATF for the plungers on hand.

Beauty. I think Minilites are the choice of wheel for a MGB. A pair of 1 3/4 inch SUs, headers and some valve work will really wake that motor up. There is a slew of aftermarket stuff to make them go, stop and handle. Enjoy it.

Good find! I have had MGs ( 15 or so ) for the last 20 years and now have my MGB keeper as I restored it back in 2006. This picture is from last year when I finally put on a factory hard top. After looking for a "good" factory hard top for the last 10 years or so that I could restore and spending a bunch of money on it all I can say is, it's a pain in the ass! Fun cars and the stock wheels are not that bad once cleaned up. Have fun!

wow thanks for all the comps guys. I needed a toy car and fell upon this sitting in a friends showroom. He sells racing equipment for english cars and bought it 10 years ago planning on restoring it himself but had fallen on hard times. So I helped him out and he helped me out so to to speak. It was a really good start as its solid and dry. It just needed a lot of TLC and some sorting out. Will I keep it? Likely. but my son also has a line on a 914 that is rust free and been in the same family since new and garaged all those years. The owner will sell it to us/me but we don't know when. So until that time I will play with this and enjoy the low cost of parts and fun times it has in store. You guys have me thinking to keep the Rostyle wheels now. They are difficult to balance as they are not hub centric. Thanks again for all the comps.
