Pics from the ATHS truck show

Just packing up to fly home from Portland where we attended the ATHS truck show. My feet are killing me. This is the last show Vicki and I will actually work. From now on employees will work the shows and Vic and I will just make appearances.
We saw a lot of nice trucks at the show, and even a Pelican!

Mike "Herr_Oberst" stopped by for a visit. Great to meet another Pelican!

1946 Ford, Ford hadn't gone back to using chrome yet after discontinuing its use for WW II .

A mid 60s W300, on of the last sold in the US.

This '37 Chevy bus was eat up with natural patina.

'68 Ford Camper Special still owned by the original buyer.

Homemade hot rod

The amount of chrome on the big rigs was amazing. You needed sun glasses to look at some of these trucks.

1941 Diamond T 201

Peter Dunkel owns this this 1913 Autocar. It was purchased new by his grandfather. Peter is known in Porsche circles for the rare Porsches he has owned.

Another of Peter's trucks. This Mac Donald machinery mover is as meticulously restored and Peter's Porsches. His family has owned a machinery moving company since 1903.

This is a rare Diamond T panel truck with a little four cylinder Hercules engine.

I have a special interest in special-purpose trucks, and there was no shortage of them at this show.

Only 4 Ranier trucks are known to exist. This is the only complete one.

You could get anything at this show!

This idea for an economical aerodynamic truck didn't go far. Paymaster made 14 trucks before shutting down in the early 70s.

There were hundreds of big rigs at the show. I didn't look at them too closely as my interest is in light trucks and special purpose trucks.

It was a real pleasure to meet up with Patrick and Vicki and check out all that cool machinery and get a glimpse into the publishing empire that Pat runs!. Those truck guys are REALLY into it!

Here's a blown Stovebolt in a weird Chevy ratrod pickemp that I really liked, and a Diamond T - I don't know if this cherry red truck is stock but it is über cool. It's low, sleek and gorgeous!

There was tons of this kind of stuff. A whole 'nother world out there!

I found a few more photos

The detail on Peter Dunkel's machinery moving truck fascinated me.

The front bumper was hand made from a flat piece of 3/8" steel.

Very rare old Packard truck.

They had 3 or 4 dirt track racer trucks.

Beautiful 1917 Sterling

There were a lot of retired fire trucks.

Back in the good old days when they had the big swap meet @ Dunkels, we got to see most of his stuff in the warehouses that were open to walk through as well as a lot of Porsche eye candy. Sigh...
