I noticed that one last week after the Sahara car was posted. This one is surely going to need at least a couple of grand's worth of work to be reliable, assuming there's no serious rust on it, but it is listed at 1/3 of the price. That other one was so sweet! But it's gone now.

Yeah, Denis, I'd agree with that, although sorted, an E28 was a stupid reliable car. I put 100k on my M5 as a dd, and the only major thing it needed was a trans, likely due to abuse by the po. It also ate brake rotors like candy, but I understand there is a fix for that. The engine/suspension/climate control and little bits were all no issue. Easy cars to work on-relatively. The itb's on the m were an issue if you had to fiddle with them, but mine were never touched in 120k. The engine was ridiculously understressed, it was the same unit as in the M1 but detuned severely. But yeah, it would take a diy nutjob like us to undertake any of these cars.
