Period Appropriate Speakers For 1989 Carrera?
So I'm getting my 911 (89 3.2) back on the road, and am asking questions in the Technical Forum, but here is a question that I consider too weighty for any minds but the august thinkers of PPOT aka the Washed Up Old Guys.
Wake up, WUOG, sip some Bovril and put on your bifocals. Here is My Question. What package shelf speakers would fit without cutting, will be roughly period appropriate in appearance, will sound decent enough considering I seem to no longer have audiophile level hearing, and will be drivable by a CDR210 head unit?

Is this for looks or sound?
I made spacers to use 6x9s sitting an inch or two off the parcel shelf. I used the mounting for the stock grilles with a little work.

Looks. I don't seriously listen to music in the car. But there are some ugly holes there now.

I used some black Poly-Planars in my '77 Targa.

Will those fit in the package shelf without modification?

Just find some grilles and cover the holes.

I have these grills......not bad. They look period appropriate. You can put most 4x6 underneath them

hmm... Mine are rectangular, though I don't know if they are stock or the PO replaced them at one point.

You can't get good audio advice on a car forum. That's what I've learned.
If you just want a restored look and don't care about sound, then just buy the old door upholstery and old speakers. |

I have A/D/S drivers and tweeters. They'd be sorely underpowered by the CDR 210 unless you run an external crossover and bi-amp.

Blaupunkt (what else?). Check out the IC series they don't cost a lot, sound pretty good considering what you're looking for they'd look like they belong there.
