It was the 1KM flamme rouge.....

Quote:
The Tour de France was brought to an abrupt halt when a giant inflatable arch collapsed and caused mayhem at Stage 7.

The riders, including those packed in the peloton, were riding with one kilometre to go when the flamme rouge deflated and fell down.

The inflatable stopped the race for a few minutes before it was resumed and no explanation has yet been given as to why it was able to fall down.
Tour de France disrupted as giant inflatable arch causes mayhem at Stage 7 and wipes out 'devastated' Brit hopeful Adam Yates

Gotta love the way Froome took out that one idiot spectator in the wig on his way up that hill.

Today is Bastille Day so would be a good day for a Frenchman to win today's stage.

Haven't had a lot of time to post lately but every stage has been extremely exciting right up to the finish. How about the Aussie winning on Tuesday, in part thanks to his 2 fellow team riders...one from South Africa and the other a fellow Aussie. And who was a close second? Peter Sagan.

So fast forward a day to yesterday's stage and who won? That's right...Peter Sagan was not to be denied his second stage win in Le Tour. But the real story yesterday was Froomie who jumped on Sagan's rear wheel straight away when Sagan attacked which ultimately gives him a little cushion over the other contenders.

Froomie has been riding like a champion. Will be interesting to see how he rides today with the TT coming up on Friday.

Running man.....what a cluster**k at the end... still results were adjusted to reflect the advantage gained.. as opposed to the crowd event.

Tomorrow will reveal more....

Yep...in agreement with everything you posted. Those spectators are out of control. They should have a lead motorbike with cattle prods sticking out sideways!

I feel bad for Richie Porte....he was flying when he crashed into that motorbike. He's always been a hell of a competitor. I hope he wasn't seriously hurt in that crash.

That was a crazy finish.
The crowds caused the motorcycle to stop but never saw video forward of the crowds closing in that caused the situation.
This will force the tour to make changes.

reports were that the motorcycle actually hit a spectator. whether they were running in front of, or just standing is irrelevant, GTF outta the road!!! Its a shame it happened, but the ASO made the right call I feel. Porte got screwed the most, he was pulling hard and probably wouldve pulled away. He looked so strong. Stronger than Froome.

Its been the most exciting Tour in years though. Sagan has shown elite. Cav I cant stand, but his Olympic training has paid off again. And Froome has been a BEAST!!!

I really like to see Porte do well in this Tour. I love how he pull back so many breaks for Froome last year. His time will come and hopefully is now. Love his attacking style (I know its his job) of riding.

I have not watch one bit of the Tour this year so I have no idea what's been going on.

Haven't posted in a while but today is stage 20 of 21 so it ends tomorrow and has been really a fantastic race this year.

Gotta give it to CF - he's proven he really is deserving of a win here.

Team Sky has done a fantastic job in support of him, as well.

Christ on a crutch! Full gas down hill in the pouring rain over painted lines. Those guys have brass balls, or no imagination, or both.

I agree, guys.....that was freaking unnerving watching some of the riders descents today and the past couple days but the 27 year old Spaniard who won today's stage, Ion Izagirre, was the best, IMHO and I'm excited to see more from him in future tours....

Would love to see Adam Yates make the podium tomorrow......somehow....

Did you watch the replay of Froome going down yesterday?
Rider right behind him followed his line exactly and went down the same way.
Like that white line jumped up and knocked the front wheels out from under them both.

Today's race was pretty exciting go down the mountain.

That was Nibali that fell behind CF. The fall surely spooked him a little, because he is well known as a fearless downhiller who takes lots of risks. The Spaniard was on fire today, and was not going to be denied! Nibali should have finished no further than 2nd!

(And it looked like CF just barely touched his front brake crossing the paint line yesterday, causing him to hit the deck. He was lucky, so was Nibali!)

Catching the replay broadcast now. Amazing. Hows the water run off the rubber? Do they have rain, dry, mix use tires?
