Star Trek

Simply fantastic.

flatbutt 07-31-2016 07:15 PM

I enjoyed it too but I was hoping for something more than the usual bad guy du jour. I'd like to see a story line / arc that requires more than one film.

I liked it too. I was surprised how casual the script was, also how casual the actors demeanor was compared to the first two of the "new" Star Trek movies.

Shaun @ Tru6 07-31-2016 07:20 PM

For me, that casualness made it feel very close to the original TV show.

That's what I told my wife when we saw it a couple of days ago. I actually didn't care for it very much. It was like an extended episode of the late sixties TV program. I wish they would quit sucking off the original program and cast.

My favorite part was when vin diesel popped out of the trunk with the shotgun and those two women in bikinis and was like "**** NOS" while kid rock started blasting.

No I didn't like it. Last Star Trek I'll see in the theater. It was weak as hell.

Aw come on. A TV series won't support the high cost of all the CGI. That's why it's gotta be a movie! Space, the final frontier and all.

That time line disruption thing was a great way to have all the same characters with new younger actors.
They just need to have Kirk be more dramatically overacted. Spock needs to be snootier so showing emotion is more of an ordeal. And Scotty needs to be more well, Scottish, and get rid of that pet thing whatever that is. Oh Yeah, and Checkov is too easy to understand, his accent needs to be thicker. Bones and Zuloo are Okay, but Bones needs to say, "He's dead Jim!" once in a while.

And they don't need to destroy the Enterprise and make a new more updated one in every movie! It was silly to have a such newer more modern looking Enterprise than was in the original TV series. Especially since they were going back to when Kirk was first made Captain.

Don't mind me, I don't understand Hollywood.

Loved it & the break neck need speed of the thing makes it very engaging.

But to be honest that made me feel a bit old at times.

Spock is awful, I hated it.

Tervuren 08-01-2016 05:25 AM

I've been a Star Wreck fan myself.

berettafan 08-01-2016 06:26 AM

i'm a fan of the new star treks in general and this one I thought was about as good.

damn sight better than the latest star wars.

one bit I have tired of is the shot of random crewmembers being sucked out into space during a battle. the main characters never seem to care and it's getting kinda gratuitous.

I've seen Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning and Star Wreck 2π: Full Twist, now!

Good stuff.

Cope and send this... https://media.giphy.com/media/kmsPoZReMvQSk/200.gif

Your friend will get an active link at the other end. (Assuming email or Facebook messenger)

Just right click on the image and select "Save Image As..." It's a gif, a type of image file. Email it as an attachment.

I liked it too but total agree about the bad guys... yet another bunch of reptiles... very disappointing.

Nice twist at the end about the origin of the bad guys thou.

Also disappointed Kirk didn't bang the alien girl... it is a Star Trek tradition dammit!

I liked her stripe scheme, but she needs some sun.
