So If I sell the 911 can \I still hang here or do I have to buy a Mustang right away

Going to pick up the 911 from it's heated winter storage today and drive it while I finish the detailing before listing it for sale. Need to know the rules for when it's gone. Can I hang with only having 914's or do I need to buy a Mustang right away?

Start with an overpriced pool stick, work your way down to a Mustang.

(Make sure you have all the particulars of the ownership and sale of the 911 written down somewhere. You'll need to be able to copy and paste the information in that file quickly into any thread where you might think someone may have the slightest interest in your experience with 911 ownership, Mustang ownership, billiards, slow driving, emirates, cops, forks in the road...........)

First you've gotta tell us how 911s aren't all that great and how 911 enthusiasts are snobs and suck. Then you should pick some other vehicle like a camaro and tell us how it's better than any Porsche and post lots of pics.

Sold my 911 in 2013 and I still hang here all the time. Like the Hagerty ad says...."no matter what car you have, there will always be your next dream car."

I'll have another Porsche someday, I'm just busy playing with a Lotus right now.

Your board credibility may be diminished if you sell your 911. However as long as you have something with four wheels and a motor and a wrench in your back pocket then acceptance is not a problem. Add extra points if you have the cojones of Motion and the eccentricities of Tabs.......

I posted a poll on this about a year ago when I sold my 911 hot rod and was Porscheless for a while (10 year-old Cayennes with 180,000 miles don't count). I think about half OT Pelicans sold their 911s and stayed around. This is just on hellava magnetic group.

I was considering a Z06 until I went to a Speedventures track event and spoke with a few owners. ! I thought they were all burning oil on the track...but it was their cigarette ashes blowing out of their ashtrays at speed. I wondered why they all stuck basketballs under their tee shirts.

It's a three step process:

1. Endure ridicule for selling the 911.
2. Endure ridicule for buying a mustang.
3. Endure ridicule for most any comment that differs from someone else's.

Don't forget to sell your 911 for way less than market value and continue to remind us of so ad nauseum.

Earlier this Spring I bought a triple black 2004 Mustang GT convertible....yea, there are plenty of them on the road, and yea, every 17 Y.O. kid aspires to own one, and yea, it's basic transportation compared to most Porsches. I currently have my 1985.5 944 for sale because I'm half afraid of driving it as a DD, too many idiots in parking lots, too much expensive repairs, and too little enjoyment compared to a V8 convertible.

Let the bashing begin, it won't change my mind.

Yes yes... But first, I think that you have to start with a very rare and pristine 911 that has R-Gruppers drooling and positioning to acquire. ...for below market value. buddy, ol chum...

Who give a rats ass what others think. I took my newly aqquired Mach 1 to cars and coffee yesterday, and had a wonderful time. It feels like people are a lot warmer towards Mustangs. They're common, so everyone has a connection to them, be it a brother, or dad's old mustang he had in the 1960's.

I took if for a drive, and got on it hard a few times (well, maybe more than few....). Its a nice feeling knowing that the engine could literally grenade on you, and you would be back on the road for less than $5k. The downside? The suspension is truly horrible.

And OF COURSE I need to post a few photos of my baby

Yes.
Get an early classic Mustang & $pend a bunch of money trying to make it a good driver.
When that pisses you off , being unsuccessful, sell it at a loss & just buy a decent driver.
It's really quite simple (if expensive).

Weird seeing all of those cars broken down with the hoods up... Are you sure it was Cars and Coffee and not an auto wrecker?

Mustang handling issues

HD you just need a Maximum Motorsports R&T suspension kit and some better wheels and tires. It will take that Mach 1 to a new level. DP

Personally I don't think you belong here unless you own a 356. A 912 or 914 isn't bad. But SIX cylinders? That's just being ostentatious.
