@wdfifteen, I'm just catching up on this thread and that is a great story. We lost our cat in early December to old age. He was 22. We adopted him at 14 and had no idea how long he would be with us. Big loss. Only his last few months were tough for him and we stayed the course until it was time, really no doubt.

To have a second chance like that is wonderful.

This guy!!! Theodore is such a good kitty and he's going to be a big boy. Our Esmerelda is such a sweet girl also. I have never thought of myself as a "cat person" but, I dunno, maybe I am. A lady-friend coworker got me the shirt for Christmas!!! She too found a stray calico kitty in her yard just a day after we got Esmerelda so we talk about our cats a lot. This woman is always showing me pictures and videos of her pussy!!! Sorry, couldn't resist!!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9a5c6ab975.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c1e8c46240.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...96edaf2e40.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...58e6543dba.jpg

Our blonde MaineCoon, on the right, needs major surgery. Wednesday to fix a hernia in his diaphragm that has allowed his liver to migrate through into the cavity where his heart is. Wish us well

Hope everything goes well. Our boy Theodore has surgery to remove his "manhood" tomorrow. I feel so bad for the little guy. [emoji20]

All the best with his recovery. Oliver is my first ginger cat and there's just something unique about them. Hope he feels better soon.

Sorry for your loss. 22 years is a great run.

After a lot of soul searching we have decided not to do the surgery. Apparently the kitty cardiologist thinks that he may be better off living with the heart issue since surgery wont fix that. So we will do a bit of watchful waiting.

Thanks to all for your gracious thoughts. Ferdinand "Ferdie" Porsche says hi and he thanks you for thinking of him

All the best. These are tough decisions, but sometimes the best thing to do is nothing and this seems like the perfect scenario for that.

My older cat who we lost last year suddenly started to lose weight and her blood tests showed severe kidney failure. She seemed fine otherwise. We were presented with some exotic treatment options but declined them. At best they would have maybe prolonged her life briefly, but would have meant overnight trips to the vet, etc. No thanks.
