Amen to that! Hopefully this is another step in the right direction for the people of Cuba.

Fidel at UN

Did Castro wear a sidearm while addressing the UN, or am I thinking of someone else?

Por_sha911 11-26-2016 08:50 AM

While I won't rejoice in someone's eternal demise, I don't have any well wishes or RIPs for Fidel either.

IMO, Fidel's legacy is twofold: abject poverty for his people and the Cuban Missile Crisis (which many historians feel is the closest the world has gotten to nuclear devastation).

As far as thinking there will be a change in Cuba, remember that Fidel has been only a figurehead for many years and Raul is still around and he's not the patron saint of democracy either.

Castro also provided a service to Capitalism....an example.
While he was propped up with other peoples money (USSR) they did simply 'ok'...when that dried up they went into the proverbial dumper.
Communism/socialism does one thing...it creates a two class system of the powerful/rich and everyone else.
We should simply take note.
I suspect the average Cuban would of prospered more under the Mafia.....
Hey Fidel, say hi to Che lol.

This pretty much sums it up... I get it that Fidel was a huge historical figure but I do not expect too much change in Cuba.

Except that we are opening up to trade and travel... which will probably make a much bigger improvement to the people of Cuba than their government ever will.

You know of course that Fidels death is Trumps fault?
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Glad he's dead. It's a great day for the Cuban people.

It's pathetic seeing condolences to the Castro family from world leaders.

Of course the hairpiece known as the Prime Minister of Canada went out of his way to praise the guy.

Truly Trudeau is an embarassement for Canada.

So glad to see a dictator pass, all we can hope for is a few more leaving this mortal coil....Mugabe comes to mind.

Unfortunately there won't be much of a change, the cronies remain in power....

LOL

Yeah, we are supposed to only discuss that a family man died... Pay no attention to his firing squads and disappearing of enemies to the dictatorship. Those thing would be horrible to mention in the wrong forum. We need a recount! ;)

Good riddance POS. His mindset did more damage than most could ever imagine.

Raul will go to hell with him.

I would vote Hitler gets none forever , to site one example .

I understand your point of view but I've always had difficultly bad mouthing the dead regardless of how much they deserve it.

Castro's transgressions are well documented and that wont be forgotten.

Nelson Mandela was considered a terrorist by many and yet he got a heroes send off.
His deeds are also well documented but somehow that's been overlooked.
