Notfarnow's House Fire

Hey guys, been chatting with Jake, and bit surprised this hadn't been posted here already!

Jake lost his house in a fire on Tuesday, Here's what he posted on facebook.
Quote:
Heya folks, how was your day? Mine was great, in that I proved (again) that I am the luckiest son of a ***** you've ever met. I'll give a full update in a few days, but the summary is that my house caught fire last night, on a night I usually have the kids (but didn't).
1) I am ok, so are the kids. If you see the kids, I've got them pretty much convinced that this is really exciting because we will be at a HOTEL WITH A POOL, so pls refrain from insinuating that there may be downsides.
2) I don't need a thing. My insurance company has been fantastic, and I am being treated like the prince I always knew I was.
3) Any of your generous notions should be directed at the Red Cross, who have HARASSED me to offer help, or to the SJ and KV fire departments, who should never have to buy a coffee or a beer again. I appreciate all the very generous offers, but please find someone who NEEDS help... they are out there, as are the organizations who support them.
4) If we could chat via FB messenger, that would be awesome. I'm struggling a bit to keep up with calls & texts for the insurance and logistics, as well as client calls
5) Youze are all awesome, and I love you.
6) The LeCar is fine, I know you were worried.
I've tried multiple times to get him to tell me what he needs, but he insists that his insurance is covering it all, and that he is fine. So if you are nearby him, take him a coffee or a beer.

He has asked that we all check our smoke detectors, as his waking up him at 3:30AM saved his life.

He's busy with all this, but asked me to update the brotherhood.

Here are a few pics, very scary stuff.

I'll try to keep you guys updated, and hopefully when Jake has more time he will pop by.

Jake: Glad everyone was safe and insurance doing what insurance is supposed to do. Nasty business fire is...

Smoke detectors...check. Now...yes please tell us how the fire started - that info could help someone here.

Thanks, Sid.

Insert photo of Jake's burning car here!

Glad you are OK Jake. If you were not so lucky, some realtor would be hanging a sign in front of your house saying "needs a little TLC" or "may be haunted"....

Was a beautiful home Jake. Happy that the smoke detectors did their job. Feel sorrow for you.

Wholly carp. The first floor drywall and even the fan blade extensions are missing.
I'm now looking around and seeing how much plastic and paper is in my room.
Escape plan and strategic extinguishers are needed.

Glad that everyone is ok Jake!

When I asked him that, being the smartass he is, Jake told me they seemed think fire was the main cause.

Could have been worse; could have been the car.

I'm sorry for your troubles. Glad you are OK.
We all think it could never happen to us.
Any idea what caused it?

Jake's sense of humor will get him through this....

He knows how to sell a house when the market is hot

Tragic...but fortunately everyone is safe and healthy....the rest is just "stuff".

Keep on keeping on Jake....best wishes from afar....r
