I think there is a .38 ACP, .380 ACP and .380 Super. all distinct chamberings. I had thought that .380 Auto and ACP were the same. I don't know about those old Colt pistols, aside from thinking covetous thoughts when I look at the pictures. I went with 9 mm because ammo is cheap and plentiful.

There was a 1911 I read about that was chambered in .380 that looked pretty sweet. Sort of the Smokey Yunick version of a 1911, 7/8 size pistol, it was a beauty, Browning I think it was.

At under $250, it is a steal.
Don’t buy a Ruger LCP .380 without reading this!

To my minds eye, an ideal CC piece, small, under 12 oz (loaded)....the smooth shape was a deal maker. The only thing I didn' t like is the lack of a safety.......that'll take some getting used to.

I went with a Ruger LC9S....really like it! Even though I'm a lefty, I opted for the version with a redundent safety....on the wrong side :). Sweeeeet trigger out of the box too...

In the 1911 you are thinking of 38 super. It used to be a rare gun, but Colt has been making them again for a few years. It's on my want list.
