What a freaking joke! A farce! Rousey does no pre-fight interviews. She just shows up and gets absolutely destroyed - AGAIN! She actually looked like it was her first fight...like a random spectator accepting a challenge to go a few with the champ. Then walks away with $3M. I realize that it's a game of sorts and that she (Rousey) brings the name to the event, but I think Nunes - reigning champ - got $200,000 ($100,000 of that was the win bonus) for bringing the beatdown. Oh well...

Her agent did a great job negotiating that 3m deal. To take a literal pounding in the face. If I had paid money to see the fight I would be pissed.

I don't normally get "passionate" about this sort of thing, but I hope she just goes away. What a joke.
Me=sour grapes |
Takes another sip of red wine....
...and another thing, she's got an awesomely fit body, no doubt, but without the Hollywood makeups, she's a total truck driver... "..honey, where is my bourbon, dammit, it's gonna be a long night..." |

What Ronda needs to do now, after she heals up a bit, is to call a presser. She needs to come out with glowing praise for Nunes' skill, etc. Then she needs to publicly thank everybody involved for the honor of her taking part in bringing women into the UFC...
Then maybe take her shirt off. But seriously, Ronda had no business being in the ring and should never again be allowed in-for her own safety. She's lucky to be alive after taking a beating like that. She was literally defenseless, flat-footed and almost 100% in retreat. She made a couple attempts to grapple and was shaken off almost effortlessly then got the snot beaten outta her. |
So $3,000,000 +
"Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, including the official UFC Athlete Outfitting sponsorship program pay. They also do not include any other “locker room” or special discretionary bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. They also do not include pay-per-view cuts that some top-level fighters receive." It looked like she hasn't learned to fight but she has a dam good agent. :) |
I think this was "all in". How do you come back from something like this? So what, she'll take another year off and make another attempt at the belt? I guess people will continue to pay for a good asswhoopin', but part of that requires some amount of reciprocity...not just being a punching bag. Give them a good fight! A good show!

Ronda is done as a contender. With the right management, some self-deprecation and humor she can move on and be successful.

Rhonda was simply at the right place at the right time, kinda like Royce Gracie, but unlike Rousey, he was actually a true champion. Rhonda capitalized on beating up fighters of a lesser caliber due to the infancy of the sport. She was marketed because of her looks and admittedly was better than the very narrow competition at that time. I really dont think were quite ready to see Amanda Nunes or a Cris Cyborg as a spokesperson for Nike but I may be wrong. Rousey was basically a solid white belt level fighter who beat up other white belts, then she finally stepped into the ring with a true Black Belt level fighter and got decimated twice. Humility goes a long way, which is why many people including myself dislike her, and she seems to be a very "mentally weak" person. I might even go as far as saying that she has actually reinforced some of the perceptions that exist in regards to how women react to mentally challenging situations. I don't think Ive ever seen a male fighter act the way she did after losing. Men just deal with it and are usually gracious or talk rematch smack but they dont run and hide. She is no role model for women.
