195HP, 279 lbs of Carbon Fiber Goodness

Suter 500

I was at Thermal Club yesterday to watch Chris Ulrich put laps on the Suter 500 two stroke. Eskil Suter, the owner of Suter, was on hand along with a couple techs.

The machine is incredible. It drips with carbon fiber and exquisite machine work. Its a rocket ship. The sound it makes it amazing. Thought some of you would enjoy a few photos that I snapped

I've never ridden two wheels that I didn't have to pedal. I'm sure that I would like it, and I don't trust myself to not kill myself.

So I'm not really a bike guy, but wow, that's darn sexy!

Thanks for the pics.

Incredible machinery. I bet that setup is getting close to the limits of physics.

Awesome machine, but outside a revival of the 500 GP class, what is it for? Just a track day toy? It's certainly not meant to be licensable anywhere. Fun engineering exercise and all of that, but my god that must of cost a fortune to develop.

Awesome, but I would not last 2 laps on that thing.
Two wheels is two wheels short for me.

I think this might be the most powerful bike you can buy from a manufacturer (HP to weight ratio). The Ducati 1299 Superleggera is the current king, as far as I know. It is 368 pounds and 215 HP. Street legal, too. Well.... I am forgetting about the Ninja H2R which is widely rumored to produce 320HP at the crank (300 claimed), but it is heavy at 529 pounds.

Roadracing World already has a teaser posted:

Suter MMX 500 V4 Fuel-Injected Two-Stroke On Track: Roadracing World Rides The First 190-Horsepower, 279-Pound Suter MMX 500 In The U.S.A.

Well that sure make the Harley Davidson XR-750 I road raced in the early 1970's look like a lead brick!
