Middle Age.

If I plan on living until I am 108 years old then I am officially middle age today.

With the exception of a few speed bumps and potholes along the way it has been an excellent journey so far!

Cheers!

Happy Birthday Bill!

I like your attitude, sir. :)

I'll be 63 in June so you have some catching up to do!

billybek 03-26-2017 07:55 PM

Thanks, Baz!

I have a little border collie asleep at my feet and a nice whiskey in my hand.
We had my parents over for dinner and cake today. Dad is almost 89 and mom isn't too far behind.

Spent most of the day with my son and we chopped and stacked some wood for the camping season. Pretty damn good day.

Cheers!

Sounds like you are enjoying life. That's the important thing at any age. I have to say your preferences change as you enter different stages of life. It's a thing that continues your whole life. Whether you live to 108 or 68, enjoy whatever time you have. I have a friend that is 102. She's tired of hanging around and tells me she's ready to leave every time I talk to her. She's in good physical health for her age, sharp of mind, and has led a life more interesting than 99% of the population. She is just looking at the end as the next stage of life. Enjoy your time here, however how much it is.

billybek 03-26-2017 08:51 PM

Good advice, Marv.
Thanks!

Happy birthday Bill.

I'm described as middle aged. Hell my dad was only one year older than me when he carked it, so I'm past the middle aged bit.

But enjoy. Us old gits don't have to worry about anything. LOL, someone else can fix the world.

sc_rufctr 03-26-2017 09:50 PM

Congrats BillyB. Stay in good health and you should be okay. Spring is here and it's time to kick up the heels...:)

Yea, it is funny how "middle age" get higher and higher as one gets older. 36 is median middle age.

As a kid I remember reading the book 2001 A Space Odyssey while begging my mom to take me to see it in CinemaScope. At the time I did the math on how "old" I was going to be in 2001 and it was a scary number. I was going to be OLD!!!!

Happy birthday Bill! I'm 2 years up on ya!

Funny thing, I was doin' the same thing as you yesterday....stacking some BC birch firewood for the fire pit and for the upcoming camping season.....one sure sign that springtime in southern AB has arrived!

In ten more years, if you do something crazy or ill-advised in a foreign country, make sure your son will come and get you.

54?

Fukc, I'm 63, strangely I'm looking forward to 65 when I can retire and get Medicare, although I've heard that isn't any great shakes.

targa911S 03-30-2017 11:10 AM

yer just a young punk..

oldE 03-30-2017 01:28 PM

Middle age is just a memory.
Like Baz I will be 63 in June.
I must say I am having more fun in many ways than back then but the body will not take the abuse without complaint or consequence.
Best
Les

I'm 66 and I feel great. Except for a few foot problems. My dad died at 66 and he seemed to me to be old. Well, thats another story. But I still feel good now so, hey what, lets get into the next story of our young lives.

^my grandmother passed away a few days short of 106 back in December. She lived at home, had a drivers license, still drove her car (!!!)...it was clear that outliving everyone (all her siblings, my grandfather and two of her daughter's husbands) weighed on her. She was ready to go and in the last 2 years or so often would say "I don't know why I am still here"

Happy birthday Billy.

billybek 03-31-2017 04:41 AM

106! Wow that is a long life.

My dad was a weldor and is still alive at almost 89. My mom is still very mobile and with it at 87. Hoping that some of that longevity is pass along.

Most of my parents friends have passed on and mom is pretty lonely these days so I can understand why someone would question weather living past a certain age would be a good thing.

Thanks for the good wishes, gentlemen.
