I was surprised to hear that the view of the ocean at Portier (where the car was on it's side) is a mural of the ocean and not the real deal.

Another douchy interview with Hamilton. Claimed Ferrari team orders and acted disgusted at the thought. I'm pretty sure he's benefited from that before, so no room for complaints.

Vettle just out drove Kimi. Some luck and traffic also factored in.

The second RAI pitted VET lap times dropped over a second a lap quicker on older tires. He plain and simply out drove Kimi.

I really wanted a Kimi win and knew he was going to have to drive the wheels off that car if he wanted to win. Sadly he did not.

Almost 290 kph through that tunnel. The camera from the drivers view makes that circuit looking soil my pants-scary. My hat´s off to the drivers. Respect.

I'm not buying this 'Senna was my hero' stuff. Hammy was about 9 when Senna died. AND according to him and the media's incessant moaning about the point, he was allegedly poor growing up, which leads me to believe that he probably had limited exposure to Senna's racing career.

So my guess is that he gravitated to this adoration later (yes I know he had the yellow helmet in carting) and uses it to garner attention.

Even if my take is wrong...who is Perez' hero? Ocon? Hulkenberg? Kimi? Anyone know? Likely not since this entire thing is the pandering media always trying to spin Hamilton to the light most favorable. If he admired Senna so much, why not drive for Williams? BTW, Williams is a British team as well, Hammy.

This award was given to him by the Senna family. He is an ambassador to the Senna foundation. I don't think this was driven by the media. You really think his family would award him with one of Senna's race worn helmets just to appease the media??? Common...

When I played hockey, I wore a Mats Sundin jersey, because he was my favourite player. Is that me using something to garner attention? Lighten up francis.

Most F1 drivers would rather go to the dentist than talk or open up to anyone.
Hamilton started with a British team - McLaren.

I know Hamilton is not what most expect to see in a F1 driver, but you you cannot argue the talent. There seems to be a lot of disdain for him for whatever reason.

I agree with you on the talent. I just wonder if he had started with a back marker team like so many have had to do, just how his career would have gone. He has been exceedingly luck in that regard.

My take on why there is disdain comes from radio comments and interviews. Before winning Austria (last year?) he was really taking the piss out of the team for strategy. They assured him it would work and it did.

He seems to blame others for failures but took little to no responsibility the last year or two when he couldn't figure out the clutch to start the race. When Mclaren began its decline while he was there he was always on the radio complaining. So it makes his comments following a win appear disingenuous.

I also don't think the media pandering and incessant talking about him as the best in the field does him any favors. They seem to never point out his faults, like Monaco last year. Clearly left the circuit to consolidate his P1 over Ricciardo. If that were any other driver it would have been totally a call for a penalty. Ditto the aforementioned Austria incident with Rossberg. Hammy did the same move later in the year and it was called 'good hard racing' but Rossberg was clearly in the wrong in their minds.

No Francois you missed my point.

I'm not questioning the family's intentions/motivations.

My point is that he gets a very favorable slant from the media and certainly never gets any criticism when he acts like a DB. Likewise they make a big to do about Senna as his hero but never mention any other driver and who may have influenced them. Its quite possible some other drivers also idolize Senna but we will never know.

Forget Hamilton, what about little Lance Stroll

He raced the wheels off his car at his first home F1 race, well deserved first points

I still laugh when I remember the time the PC imbecile reporter called hambone "african American".

Up until that time I thought he was British.

He is a DB. He's an incredible driver, but still a DB.

If your hair looks like this:

Or your facial hair looks like this:

And you then cover your body with gangsta wanna-be bad boy tats, then you are definitely a DB.

But iMO, there is no one in F1 that is as big of a DB as perez.
How would you like to have a guy like that on your team?
