I've eaten food from street carts all over the world, including India and China. Not really related to the subject at hand.

There is some seriously bad stuff going into the food produced in China. I think the Chinese have woken up about it, but they still have a long way to go before they have the safety standards you find in the west. The water that goes to feed their crops..holy hell, I cannot imagine the chemicals one finds......

If I am going to eat cereal, it is generally oatmeal.

No food products from China for me or the dog.

We buy Kroger brand raisin bran, meusli, and oatmeal-raisin-granola whatever and mix it. Delish.

Also, one secret to not eating soggy cereal is to not put so much milk in the bowl... just wet it and stir it.

Translation: only put about 1/4 to 1/3 of what a 4 year old would put on it (drowned!) sometime and see what you think.

I'm suspicious of added sugar. Not fruit sugars that should be there, but refined sugars, so I just have rolled oats porridge with soy milk during the week.

Then bacon and eggs on the weekend to give a bit of balance to my diet.

emailed Great Values last night as to origin of this cereal. This morning I received their answer.

"We have researched your question and we can share with you that item is a product of the United States. We would also like to share with you that you can also locate the country of origin on all of our products. If there is no county of origin on a Great Value product, then the country of origin for the product is the United States."

I'm in the same camp. When I was much younger - my go to cereal was Cap'n Crunch or Rasain Nut Bran ( I think) but only once in a while. Obviously those cereals and most like them are a heapin' bowl of processed sugar. Now my cereal go to is Special K / Protein or with yogurt. Like the OP, just like a simple bowl of __________ occasionally.

I've never looked where it is produced or manufactured.

I don't know or care if that cereal is made in China.

I read labels. My wife does not. She will bring home dog treats occasionally that are a product of China and they go directly in the trash.

The raisin has been made completely obsolete by superior dried fruit technology, the craisin

I like to mix some in with the raisin bran
