Anybody in on the Ferrari IPO Tomorrow?

Anybody inside on the Ferrari IPO?

Anybody plan to buy some shares Wednesday on the first day of trading (Ticker "RACE")??? Anticipated share prices is $48-$52. I'll probably make a novelty purchase.

Ferrari

No doubt if you could buy just one share and get a pretty certificate for the wall and tell your friends "I own a stock in Ferrari" it would sell like crazy to the Tifosi

Not true! I happen to know of two people on this board who own modern Ferraris. One who drives it like he stole it (and you know who you are )

Is it a good buy at $48-$52?

At $52?...That's hard to say. The public offering is only a 10% stake in the company. In this current world economy, a big position in Ferrari would be a bet that the wealth gap continues to expand and the super rich get even super-richer. Most people buying new Ferrari's are beyond the reach of a stagnant world economy. With oil prices likely to rise from this point, the Arab market for Ferrari's could increase. Growth is the question. I don't see Ferrari coming out with a Cayenne-like SUV or lower priced car to appeal to the middle class…And I don't see the current middle class wages taking a significant jump any time soon moving them into Ferrari territory. If demand is going to increase and Ferrari is going to keep growing, it's going to be the super rich buying their second or third one.

I'm going to stick with a couple novelty shares…maybe get a certificate framed and hung in my man cave, like a previous poster suggested.

High at $61 at opening, how settling in the mid $55s. Nice gain if anyone got in at the IPO price of $52.

I did that with Vector, my broker was dead set against me buying any, but I explained it was for wall art, not investment.

No company issues stock certificates anymore. There are some novelty ones for co's like Disney but there are no certs these days.

Actually, even Disney stopped issuing the framable stock certificates back in 2013. There are some companies online that print phony certificates you can frame for wallhanger purposes. …an easy Google search I'm sure.

I did like dmcummins and bought 10 shares at $55.90 just for fun. I don't see Ferrari as a good potential growth company. it's just cocktail party conversation.

Speaking of stock certificates, I have an actual GE certificate from the 50's....wait a minute, I remember posting about that several years ago. Had completely forgotten about it.. time for a bump to figure out what I've got here.

Should have bought a Ferrari at the time of the IPO, it would be up more than 50%.

Should have bought my Stradale when I sold it in 2008 for $191K. I believe they are pushing $400K+ now

I guess I shouldn't have sold my 72s either. But at 50% every two years I would be way ahead if I could have gotten that on the money from the sale.
