Hey, that's what I said. SmileWavy

Seriously though, hire a teen to set the posts and you just sit in the bobcat and drill them. It's really not a hard job.

For me to sit in the bobcat and drill them I'd have to buy a bobcat first. Wait a minute you sell them? Is this a plot? :)

Yes; actually a schmidge over 8'

IIRC, it's 2 1/4" - the same OD as the poles they sell @ Home Depot etc, and it uses the standard 2 3/8" clamps.

It varies due to proximity to other features, but no further than 7 1/2' apart. Two of the poles are welded to the poles on the pergola, and it's tied to the carport on one end and to the existing fence in the middle and the opposite end. I am tempted to tie it into the shop at both corners as well.

I used 2x6 redwood mounted vertically to each pole, and then 1x12 redwood mounted horizontally. The bottom board that contacts the ground is 2x12 pressure-treated and the very top is 1x8 redwood. Recently I covered the horizontal gaps using 1x4 redwood slats from the backside, so you can't peek through the fence at all.

Thanks for getting back to me, Thom....I love the use of the redwood! :)

I was able to punch 36-18" holes 4' deep for our new pole barn posts with the wind stays nailed to the bottoms all in one day. 65 HP Bobcat made quick, effortless work of it

Isn't there a place nearby that rents one? You could use a regular Bobcat or get one of the walk behinds like a MT55 or a Toro Dingo with a post hole auger. If you have the holes marked, it wouldn't take long to punch the holes. If you set your corners first and then run the string lines you could have someone follow along setting a post right after you drill the hole.

Btw, it's not a plot.... it's subliminal messaging. Totally different. :D
And not that I'm getting at anything... but I have some customers in MB and shipping to you isn't as bad as you might think. :D
