AI Vehicles

Had a very interesting interview today with a small dynamic company that is doing pioneering work in transport vehicles controlled by artificial intelligence

I know someone started up a thread on Sci-fi, well I can say without doubt it is alive and well and happening now.

Not 100% sure I'm ready to join the future just yet but equally think it would add a few strings to my bow which should future proof me until I decide to stop work.

Part of me is super excited of where the future of transport is going but part of me feels a quite sad as the next generation of kids will never get to feel what over steer and under steer feels like.

I'm interested to know what other Pelican's feel about autonomous vehicles, not just cars but flying cars too.

I have my doubts in regards to flying cars.

Autonomous vehicle are going to happen. They will have a positive impact on highway gridlock.

Your car will link up with other venicles going to a similar destination. Imagine a train of cars, bumper to bumper, going 90 mph.

It will revolutionize transportation. And it will be here sooner than most think.

One thing I have not heard discussed anywhere about flying cars and the like is what happens in the event of an engine/motor/power failure.

To be certified all airplanes and helicopters have to be able to make a safe landing in the event of an engine failure. What happens when a tiny electrical gremlin rears its ugly head and the power cuts out? I've had my laptop simply shut down for no explained reason. Is there a method for a safe return to the earth? I wouldn't want to be the passenger heading to the ground like a streamlined anvil when that happens.
