A Plea For Help: Mr. Wayne Dempsey, the Pelican Team & Forum Members-Hurricane Harvey
I typically don't post this type of topic but I am requesting any type of help from the Pelican Team and forum members.
Anything would help, financially or donation (clothes, food) wise. Since 2003, Pelican is the primary vendor I go to to maintain all my cars (of which I have a handful) and have spent $1,000s over the years, I am hoping Wayne and others can pay it forward and help out anyway possible. I have so many things running through my head after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey, I don't even know where to begin..... I'm sure you have all seen the horrific images and videos. The past few days have been a spiraling and rapid mix of emotions, stress, anxiousness and deeply saddening. This video was shot about 15 minutes from my home: https://www.click2houston.com/video/think-youve-seen-it-all-in-houston-neighborhood-of-underwater-homes-will-devastate-you?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_KPRC2_%2F_Click2Houston I've lived all over world and experienced some extreme and even frightening weather but Harvey is the "high water mark" <- pardon the pun. Its been so surreal experiencing it first hand. My cousin who lives in South Houston had 8' (yes 8 feet!!) of water at his house it completely ruined his house and submerged his cars, he and his young family had to be rescued by boat through a 2nd story window! Last year during the tax day floods my house sustained $110,000 in water damage and had to be completely gutted, my cars took in water and were moldy for weeks. I had to resort to renting a bedroom in someone's house for 7 months during the rebuild of my place as FEMA would not reimburse for me a hotel room or apartment, count your blessings or lucky stars if you've never had to live this let alone it being a "thought" for you or your family. These are my photographs, not something off the 'net. This is a picture of me after the water receded, I'm standing in my driveway: ![]() My neighbor paddled up my driveway with his daughter to check on me: ![]() Rescues by the city: ![]() The city is a disaster zone and has been crippled and I shudder to think about the clean-up and reconstruction once the water recedes. The devastation is beyond words. I thank you kindly in advance. Yasin

Yasin, I can't imagine what y'all are going through. Do you have a Paypal account? Post it or send me a PM...

Thanks Keith...I am OK, its other families that have been through so much worse that need any assistance.
My recommendation is to seek out a charity that is truly connected to helping people. I know JJ Watt and other organizations have set up such type contribution centers. Thank-you! Yasin

One of the saddest things I've heard is that only one out of five people have flood insurance. It's bad enough to have to go through it *with* adequate insurance, but without it... ugh.

Check give.org, CharityWatch and CharityNavigator to see how some of these charities spend money.
Red Cross seems to be fine at 90% towards programs. |

There are really no words that cover it. Such a tragedy.

Yasin, so sorry to see your personal impact. I am certainly contributing to various charities to help in the recovery effort. It's fairly minor considering the loss of life and thousands that are now homeless, but how did your cars fare? I've always liked your taste and collection.

Matt - The cars are all fine, luckily.
Thank-you (and everyone else) for your kind responses and contributing.
