The Bad War by Mike King

I am not completely convinced that the story of WWII as has been told us for the last 75 years is the full truth.

I have a feeling that what happened during the 30's up to the end of WWII is not quite as simple as saying "Hitler was a bad person" and we took care of him.

History is invariably written by the "winning" side, which does not necessarily mean that it is correct, and with the advent of the internet there is much more information now available to us that might dispute the story that we've been told for the last 75 yrs.

I've yet to read "The Mad War" and before I invest in it I'd very much like to hear the opinion of those of you that have read it.

Thank you,

Hughc

I have not read it.

Hitler was much more than just a bad person, he was pretty much a monster. To try to eliminate an entire ethnic race for whatever warped "reason" he had is monstrous. The invasion of numerious other countries only for the purpose of taking them over and gaining access to the other countries wealth and natural resources is monstrous.

And then there is Japan. The personification of monstrous. The rape of China the Japanese fostered on the peoples of China is beyond horrendous and reaches the unimaginable. Read up on what they did to the many other countries besides the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Fortunately for the world they picked a fight with the USA and we had the resolve and capacity to beat them into unconditional surrender. We had lots of allies in the battles of WW2, but it was the US manufacturing capacity that supplied the goods needed to beat Japan.

The US for sure did not defeat Germany and Japan all alone, we had lots of help but we carried the biggest load, and we rebuilt Europe especially Germany and Japan and got them back on the road to recovery.

I got through about 45 pages of it. Los of pictures. It's like a comic book of history reinterpreted with innuendo and politically charged rhetoric to fit the author's point of view.

How did we know Hitler was going to be so bad? Everyone was sure he was going to stop after annexing Czechoslovakia, after invading Poland, etc. He even said so himself. Instead, we waited until it was almost too late to get involved.

This lead to a period for the next 60 years where we quickly involved ourselves with every potential bad guy before they got too big. Then that was decried for being "imperialist" and we've got some baddies in NK and Iran we won't do anything about because we don't yet know they will really be bad...

The last war that was NOT a bad war was back in 1776 or so which gave us our independence. And no I am not that old so I remember it in person!

The US spent the last 60-70 years fighting Russia/SU/Russia.
That is how we identified ourselves and our goals: To the world at large and our own people.
The enemy supposedly being "Rus" or "rower".
Our warriors from the right of the aisle.
That situation seems to have changed recently. Flipped.

Another good book is "Soldier" by one of the most decorated in Nam history.

And "Typhoon of steel" and "The battle for Okinawa". Two sides of a coin.

I am now reading "Killing Patton" or probably will if there is time.

I think the Germans had a great part of that by themselves too.

It's important to remember WW II had its roots in the Versailles treaty. Conditions imposed upon Germany made the political landscape fertile for a megalomaniac who promised to make Germany great again.

In 2010, 92 years after the war, Germany completed its WW1 reparations payments:
How Germany Ended Its World War I Reparations Payments - TIME

Germans also accepted a multi-generational perpetual guilt complex.
So today's genX is also responsible for paying for grandpa's war 'crimes'.

...A cultural multi-generational perpetual guilt complex enforced by whoever controls the the government...
Think about that one a bit.

Has anyone heard of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor?
7-10 million whites killed may be a low number.
Marx, Lenin, Trotsky etc and the conspirators were all that ethnicity.
