powerpoint vs Keynote

i have a presentation in a few weeks. simple one. everyone typically does a lame handout. i like to do a slide show. i just got a new ipad, and was playing around. i decided to try Keynote. the templates are nice!!

i'll just dump everything onto my iphone and run the projector from it.

i am liking Keynote!!

what about you guys? i am too new to Keynote to really form an opinion..and i know i just scratch the capabilities of PowerPoint as well.

Powerpoint is IMHO by far the absolute worst piece of garbage ever coded.

Keynote is great.

Only problem and it's a biggie, unless you can always control / guarantee the presentation will be given from an iOS / OSX device you are forced to save to pptx format which undoes all the great features Keynote brings to the table.

Powerpoint used to be called Persuasion and was made by Aldus. The origin makers of Pagemaker and at about the same time.
Persuasion was bought by Adobe, then Microsoft. Microsoft changed the name to Powerpoint but the program itself has not changed much at all.

Keynote is new and up-to-date with lots of cool new features.

No, Persuasion was a competitive product.

Powerpoint was originally Presenter, developed by Forethought.

Love Keynote, but it really depends on the iOS device you are presentng from and the projector inouts; I've had a few that look like a square on the scceen rather than widescreen

I am a "MS Office-fan". I bought a license for the iPad Pro and use the apps on the iPhone and iPad.

stomachmonkey is correct.

It started out as "Presenter" but the name was changed due to copyright issues. I used to work for Taylor Pohlman, co-founder of Forethought...

If you had a boxed copy of Persuasion then it was Persuasion in the box unless someone removed the copy of Persuasion that originally came in the box and replaced it with Powerpoint.

Their UI's would have been similar but that's to be expected from two products that do the same thing.

Just because google docs, and every other spreadsheet program, looks like excell does not mean they are excell.

Persuasion and Powerpoint were never at any point in time the same product nor derivatives of one another nor developed by the same companies.
