I've been following Gibby since his High School days at Kettering (Waterford, MI), through his wide receiver days and Big 10 Co-Championship at MSU (All American X 2), then on to his 3-Run Homer Tigers World Series victory then to the Dodgers and this famous at-bat. Then he moved around did commentating for the Tigers, was also a coach awhile then special assistant to the Tigers and finally back as color commentator for the Tigers at Fox-Detroit up to a couple years ago.

I did see him walking around MSU when he was the Big Man on Campus.

Thank you Sammy

MAN!

The back story on Gibson's home run is incredible. Here is a link to an oral history of it that was in Sports Illustrated. It's a long read and worth savoring every word.

I was lucky enough to be at the 5th and final game of the 84 World Series. Tigers vs Padres
Sat in the right field bleachers...only a few rows away from his 2nd home run of the game off of Goose Gossage.
Until a few years ago...I still had a frozen clump of turf that was thrown up into the stands as a souvenir. Memorable game.

If I remember right...the tickets were $25 each.

Indeed.
Like most here I’ve been alive for a good while, and that’s my biggest sports memory, by far.
Everything about it, just incredible.

I actually remember where I was for the Gibson moment. It was while waiting for a Maria McKee concert in Seal Beach.

IDK why but baseball celebrations are, for me the best in sports. The guys always look like little boys jumping up and down like that.

Gibson's Homer ranks right up there, for sure...

Almost as cool as match 14 of the 2018 Mosconi cup. I'd be glad to post a link if you'd like.

Whipper-snapper!

If gibby had pointed to the stands and called his shot like Ruth did, it would have been absolutely perfect and there would have been no reason to continue playing baseball. The ultimate mic drop

Definitely the greatest at bat ever! Bottom of the 9th, tie game in game 7, underdogs. Bam, walk-off before anyone heard that term!
