Worst shipping ever!!!!

Probably should be moved to Parts Classifieds?

Did Mark Epstein screw up your shipment too? An engine case shipped in an $8.95 clothing tote for a 2000 mile journey. A perfect case turned into a POS. I was going to swap from 72 to 73 cases. Thanks MARK!!!!!! Like FedEx is going to pay for this packaging disaster (NOT)???? Maybe I am just too demanding as a customer?

Bent many other studs.
Lots of bent head studs.

Mark told me never to contact him ever again when I called him out on this. Now his is giving shipping advice here on the forum again. Someone with 1400+ posts should know how to pack a box.

Replacing old head studs is a given but it costs extra to replace head studs when bent. No excuse for the other studs getting bent.

Let the hate begin!!!!!!

In the first picture, the case looks cracked where the stud is crooked. As in the case gave way before the stubby stud bent. But its hard to tell from the picture.

Are the cases really a complete loss?

Man, that's a bad situation...

It came wrapped in a piece of carpet? Got a wide shot?

I'd hate to see your reaction to a serious issue, is the case damaged??? Bringing this into a public forum and badmouthing another forum member seems a little childish to me.

hard to tell if the case is actually damaged from those pics.

It is important to remember that if someone packs an item like it has no value, the shipping company will not pay out the insurance if it's damaged.

I have received some undamaged items from reputable vendors that were packed horridly. Sometimes I think routine shippers are more likely to roll the dice.

Valid thread, that was poorly packed. Let us know if there is any real case damage.

Yup, no shipper will honor a damage claim for that, and rightly so.

Seller should be accountable.

My garage is full of original shipping boxes for most of the delicate / easily damaged stuff I buy.

Shippers are very clear that more often than not if an item is not shipped in the original manufacturers packaging you are SOL on damage claims.

Unless the case is cracked at the bent studs, it should be fine. Just pull the studs, which look like they need to be replaced anyway, install new ones and move on. I replace them all anyway when doing a restoration, this way I know what I am starting with. Yes it could have been packed better, but I would not say it is ruined.

He should have removed the studs in order to better pack the case.

5hitty shipping is a peeve of mine. A while back I bought almost $2000 worth of BMW parts which were just thrown in a big box with 2 or 3 of those air pack bubbles. It was packaged so badly that when the box fell apart, FedEx returned it to the sender rather than deliver it to me.

A few years ago I bought an NOS Type 34 turn signal switch; again, a several-hundred-dollar part just thrown in a box and destroyed. The seller doesn't GAFF because he has his money.

While I agree with you 100% the packing sucked and any damage that incurred extra expense for you is on the seller I'm not seeing how bent studs are costlier to replace.

What am I missing?

title is misleading. the shipping was fine.the packaging sucked..

Maybe the studs were left there intentionally to protect the block.

I'd be pissed as well. If for nothing else, the principle.

Same here...some are unique and costly...after a while it's a chore to store them, however.
.
I have the 24" x 16" x 6' shipping boxes (amazing boxes) my 5' Martin Logan Theos speakers came in. Thought of tossing them cuz I figure I'd sell the speakers locally...if at all.
They're built to take a direct hit so I use them as two ends of a 6' tall shelf...they're sturdy.
.
OK, as you were gents.
