Dang It..............
I don't hate it.
I would never ever choose this over my 911. I love the smell of my hard working oil. I love the sounds coming from my Engine. I love the way the engine looks. BUT If it means saving a 911 from the salvage yard crusher, I don't hate what they did............... for someone else. |

There is an outfit in Tampa that will convert darn near anything with a 200mm VW/356/912/early 911 clutch to electric, cost is about $9k. So 356s, 912s, 911s w/ 901 transmissions, 914s, VW bugs and busses, VW Thing, etc.

A "fully restored" Porsche with an electric motor? That's really pushing the definition of "restored" don't ya think?

They often use transmission fluid as the coolant....so yea, could happen.
I think the entire dynamics of the car would be ruined. As would the sound. Convert a Buick, that will minimize the automotive harm.

At least they didn't put the "E" before "911". And the badge is on crooked.

If the 3.4 in my Cayman went south I'd look hard at electric. I'd also look hard at an LS3. Hopefully the 3.4 will just keep going.

I get the "more predictable handling" bit, but how does more weight on the front end offer "far more front-end response?"

Maybe someone dropped in a 3.2 at some point.
------------------------- I like it & hey why not? If it was a beat up old thing that hadn't been loved in a long time then at least it's still on the road. As far as driving dynamics. It would have to be very different to a regular 911. So the big question. Would I own it? My 911 is about fun & I don't think this car would be as much fun but I haven't driven an all electric car. The one big concern I have about electric cars is the the battery pack. For real how long do they last before they have to be replaced? Once they're down to about 60% full charge capacity the car may become impractical. The batteries would be good for about 500 cycles, maybe more. Then what? Would any saving in fuel versus electricity be gobbled up by the cost of a new battery pack? I'm very skeptical about any car manufacturers claims. They have a long history of stretching the truth. What would a new battery pack cost? I'm guessing more than $8k. That buys a lot of gasoline. (and don't forget the cost of the electricity) https://www.quora.com/Whats-the-life-expectancy-of-a-Tesla-Model-S-battery-and-will-there-be-a-replacement-plan-of-some-sort

I threw up in my mouth a little. At least (as noted) it was a Targa.

No thanks..not interested.
If I wanted a boring over priced car I would actually buy a Tesla.
