We have one for our little dogs. It really works! Once they associated the noise with we only have to get it off the shelf and show it to them and they quiet down.
Our neighbor had two BIG dogs that he left outside and they barked incessantly. I hung the bark box on the fence when I wanted to enjoy being outside they would shut up immediately.
We used one of those for the neighbors dog. It worked well. We don't use it now because our lab is very quiet and we don't want to punish her.

Our beagle barks even with the bark collar on. Well, he barks, then yelps, then barks, then yelps. It slows him down a bit but does not stop him. I doubt the above would stop him either. If not for the collar he would bark constantly anytime he is not sleeping.

Doc friend of mine has two terriers, one is very anxious. She prescribed pot. The dog is super chill now. Still alert, still engaged, just less jittery/barky. Some sort of basic edible. And you live in the right state for this.

Barking

Citronella collar (sprays a shot when they bark) worked very well for my German Shepherd - another good option worth trying.

She was good in the house, but went off at everything that caught her attention outdoors. My neighbors were very grateful that I curbed the barking…

Good luck,

Gordo

THANK YOU!
My neighbor's dog was slowly driving me insane with its barking so I bought one those from Amazon. It's only been two days but I've gone from non-stop barking (whenever the owners are away) to just an occasional 'yap' here and there. I didn't buy that exact model but they all seem to work on the same principle.
If you're ever in San diego, I owe you a beer.

+1. My neighbor had two yappers, all night, all day, whenever he let them out back, they would bark at the wind or for no apparent reason.

I printed the Amazon page of one of these deterrent devices and forced him to buy one and hang it on his patio. Instant quiet, zero barking and quiet for years now. I bluffed him, I would have bought him one if he balked.

This worked amazingly well for my dog too. He sees his job as barking like crazy whenever anyone comes to the door. All it took was one spray and that was it...not another peep out of him. I don't even turn it on anymore before putting it on him...just the mere sight of it now keeps him quiet. Comes in real handy when I'm expecting visitors.
