When I had lunch with Shaun a few years back he was driving that car.

How does it look today?

Remember the first 930 I ever saw. 1975 Porsche Parade. Thought those flares and the large spoiler were wild stuff.

Before you say they weren't legal here in '75, you're right. But there it was. I heard a later story that the car didn't stay long. Feds caught up with the guy, and it was confiscated.

In 75 or early 76, a buddy and I were riding motorcycles down I-8 from Mt Laguna to El Cajon Ca when I spied this Porsche coming down the mountain behind us cooking along. We slowed and he caught us and passed slowly by. It was a silver 911, windows down, old guy smoking a cig and he sailed on past and I see turbo on the wide rear end, big spoiler, AZ plate, wow! Pull up to him and yelled for him to nail it and he put the cig in his mouth, downshifted and floored it. Odd sound as he pulled away and I was in Porsche heaven.

4 years before graduating high school, I saw a red car as it passed by, it looked weird. Had a huge hole in the side, all kinds of vents, and an elevated wing on the back. I turned and followed, eventually stopping behind it at a traffic light. Light turned green and it was gone. The sound was amazing!

Even though I lived less than a 1/4 mile away from its home, I never saw that 959 again.

Friend has a car almost just like that one that has been sitting in his garage with the motor apart for 15 years. As everything ready to go back together, but is afraid to because he would drive it and it keeps going up in value.

That is hardly the actual reason. There are deeper issues at play.
OCD, ADD, self-delusion, lack of ability, finances, etc.

I intentionally omitted "lack of time" because I am sure your friend has had time to watch Netflix or surf the web over the last 15 years.

One thing I've learned from the sad abandoned Porsche thread is that people get in over their heads,
and then the family members have to clean up the mess once they die.
