![]() First family car that I can remember driving around in. Also the first car that I ever drove, when I was around 14. It said 351 h.p. on the air cleaner, and I believe it. It had the touchiest controls of any car I've ever driven. Press the gas a little too much and you'd do a burnout. Tap the brakes and you're going through the windshield. I remember thinking "It's really hard to drive a car!" I also remember it backfired and caught on fire once. Luckily it was in our driveway, and luckily my dad, not my mom, was driving. He popped the hood, got the garden hose, doused it and we were good to go. If it was just my mom there, we probably would have burned down half the neighborhood! |

first ride home after I was born was a '72 Eldorado. Dad took 3 wrecked ones and made one good one.
![]() Dad had an Econoline to commute with and haul the bass boat. ![]() The bass boat he hauled was a Hydro Sports with a 115 Mercury tower of power. ![]() Folks also had a '73 C30 with a slide-in camper to haul the boat, and stay the night. (Like this, but early style grille, and red with white coves) ![]() Dad also had a motorcycle. '71 CL100. I still have most of that one. ![]() None of these are the actual vehicles my folks had. there were a slew of different cars since then, but these were the ones they had when I was born.

The car I was brought home from the hospital in. The little girl is my Sis, not sure about the dog and lady.
![]() This is the first car I ever drove and it's also the car I took for my first driver's test to get my license at 16. Mom, Dad and Sis. I was the photographer.

1974 Plymouth Satellite Wagon! We had that the majority of my childhood. We had another wagon before this one but I can't remember what it was. An Olds I think...

No the actual car, but close. Mercury station wagon, avocado green inside and out, rear jump seats and a perfect imprint from a hot cigarette lighter on the vinyl front seat when I was left alone in the car. Probably 6 years old while mom shopped..

That's my father and me. Germany 1983. Was our family car with me and my two siblings stuffed into the back seat. This car became my mother's daily driver/grocery-getter within a couple of years. This same 944 is in my garage now.

You could climb into the engine compartment and walk around the engine with that long hood. There was room for 2 V8's in there. Last edited by tcar; 10-02-2017 at 09:30 AM.. |

This is the car I remember best from my childhood. Saab 96. It was very distinctive and rare, probably started my interest in cars. We actually had two of them, though not at the same time. Both were a kind of light yellow.

Here is the actual first car I ever rode in. DRP300C was the car in which my Dad drove my Mother and I home from the hospital when I was born.
This is that car and my Grandfather. We think this was taken when he was marshaling on the 1964 Cotswold Rally.
