Hammer time (AMG)

At my pal's shop in Hollywood, these two super rare ancient AMG Hammers. Remember these in car magazines back in the day? A client purchased both in Japan and had them imported. I've never seen either of these before.

The other car is even more special. A w126 with an M119 4-cam motor and CIS, tons of special order AMG stuff. This car has Yakusa provenance, supposedly. ;)

The interior is amazing w the extra wood and the picnic tables in the rear.

That’s freaking awesome.

Major mb wood...in multiple ways. Those throttle bodies are ridiculous.

Odd that the second car has no flares.

The only Hammer I ever saw was in the Cincy Bengal players parking lot. It had a customer plate on it "BIGKAT"

Awesome machines!!

I saw a AMG S55 V-12 just two days ago a few blocks from home. It looked new and I don't keep up with the new MB models. It was a good looking car.

^S65 is V12 biturbo, S55 is V8 only, N/A or supercharged depending on year.

I remember reading about the Hammers in the mags back in the day.

Just about a week ago, this car or one exactly like it (complete with same front Euro place) started parking very near my parking spot at home.
1983 AMG 380SEC, I guess.

I think it's pretty cool in a very 80s sort of way.

I worked at Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories back in the 80s and we were the first retailer of AMG cars and parts. We had the original Hammer and did quite a few conversions and all variants came through us way before Mercedes Benz took over.
The Hammer was incredible. I drove it out to Pomona to do 1/4 mile runs for a Motor Trend magazine article in '87.
Mr Aufrecht and Mr Melcher (AM...) were a class act.

My ex used to pick me up in black AMG S class Benzes in Japan. Fly into Narita and a brand spanking new AMG is waiting for me. In Osaka and another AMG picks me up at my hotel. Damn! And yes, her dad was an oyabun.

Another ex of mine had one of those BHMA 300ce Hammer coupes. That was a sexy ass car! My friend ordered 4 of them through his dealership; white, blue, metallic grey and my gf's black car. There was also a blue 300e Hammer sedan that was here since new.

I believe this is the same car speeder posted. Scare Everyone With This 1991 Mercedes-Benz AMG Hammer

If they're from Japan, does that mean AMG didn't make any RHD versions for Japan, England, and Oz... or did the owner there have LHD versions because that was all he could find?

Most older European cars in Japan are LHD only during the last ten years are RHD cars becoming available. Dealers offer a choice of right or left these days. Rarer cars tend to be LHD.

Harley Davidson XLCR, (CafeRacer). I wanted one of those so bad when they came out in the '70s but I think I was 15 and scooping ice cream or pumping gas at the time. :)
