I have a 1956 356 Speedster, a 1956 356 coupe, a 1988 Carrera, and a 1947 Dodge pickup. Each is fun in its own way. I'm not big into "modding." I like enjoying my cars and truck for what they represent historically. But then I still live in the country, and opportunities to drive my old truck down a back road with the windows down and the windshield cranked open are probably more common for me.

Some great trucks in here - Wayne’s being the topper - I certainly see the appeal on several levels. Enjoy!

It isn’t fun to take a car that has appreciated in value to a point that it needs ‘special’ insurance on a hooligan cruise and drive it like it was meant to be driven. I don’t dare take either of my turbos to the track (never take a car to the track you can’t afford to leave there). The Porsche community has changed forever.

My antique trucks will be drivers as shown by other posters (with a T) in this thread.

It's always best to save your car for the next owner.

Thats cool Fred. I see similar vintage dump or flatbeds around once in a while for cheap. Its funny how my 'logic' works. Looking for a long bed pickup somehow ends up with a 40+ yr old commercial truck. It'll be cool! Thinking of how much firewood I can haul!

This is our work in progress. 57 Studebaker Transtar, but we're modernizing the suspension (TCI and 4 link). We're staying old school on the engine and Transmission by using a .080 over Studebaker 289 with a Paxton Blower (R2) and T10 4 close ratio speed.
This truck is a Johnny Cash special, as the cab was a chicken coop at one time, and I found the bed out in a farmer's field. The engine I have owned since the early 60's when my dad bought the truck it was in to use for oilfield production work.

This pic is from the deconstruction phase with my son and grandson.

I want to get an old Bronco or Scout next, but I can drive a 911 all day for what one of those goes though in gas just to get to the store and back.

I stumbled across this thread this morning... They don't have to be gas guzzlers (and can still have 420 HP).

Maybe for my 56 F100...

You can buy an old 911 for what the old Bronco and Scouts are going for today.

On the other side of the coin, I have just about completed my collection of Matchbox/Hotwheels/Kyosho/M2/Autoworld 1/64 scale cars to match the actual cars I have owned, and enjoyed driving. I currently have 25 of the 35 cars i've owned in just about the same color/year/model of everything from mid 70s pickup trucks, to Pintos, to GTOs, Datsun Zs, and many other sports cars, and utilty vehicles.

It's neat to have them all parked in a diagonal row above my work computer, many people that see them comment, or ask about them.

Who needs a 401K? Well done and excellent taste !! If you can stand selling them at some point, you're set...
I sold my 57 coupe and there is no way I'd buy it back at today's price...

Wish I lived a little closer to my brother so I could help him. He's building a '75 C10. Dropped front spindles, MT cheater slicks, cut outs on the exhaust, powder painted frame. And, oh yeah, a 454 just because he had one leftover from another truck project.

Speaking of hot wheels, in view of the raging fires out west these days, it would seem most sensible to have a fire truck in any loved collection.

That is a nice truck there, I particularly like the pinstripping on the wheels, nice!

Cheers Richard
