from the article:
"Bello will debut the 996 at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, with the hope that interested sponsors will have ample time to inspect his masterpiece. He will target the Pro Import Class, having raced in both the Street Comp and Outlaw classes with much success. "I could have stayed in my old class, but I wanted it to be more exciting. I noticed that people were more drawn to the higher-up classes." ------------------ Adam Nitti ajnitti@mindspring.com www.adamnitti.com '85 911 Carrera Coupe '72 BMW 2002tii '97 Grand Cherokee Limited Peachstate PCA member |
Thanks for sharing - I only had enough time to look the article over quickly. Did I understand correctly that the P-motor will be in the front? That's rather prophetic for the 911V8 haters! HA!
Personally I'd much rather see a stock bodied 911 run 9s than a 911Turbo powered funny car running 6s. But hey, it's Porsche so it's all good. |
FIFTY LBS OF BOOST! holy moley.
1)How does he keep the heads sealed! 2)How does he keep the heads attached to the cylinder. 3) How does he get the intake valve closed once its opened! (serious spring pressures I'm sure) The next time he shows up at Atco dragway I'll ask him. I quickly calculated the Force keeping the intake valve open: assume the valve is 1.9" dia. Area is 2.8"square inches X 50psi = 140lbs!+ the inertia of the valve. YIKES! [This message has been edited by JohnC (edited 10-30-2001).] |
Not to rain on Bello's parade....BUT...wasn't he under indictment for some itty bitty little illegal activities?????
Something about somebody else's engines and transmissions being in his shop??? Funny no mention of that.....musta had OJ's lawyers.... Just my observation.... |

Eddie Bello, 35, who has won fame with souped-up Porsches on the import drag-racing circuit, was arraigned Saturday in Mount Vernon on a charge of illegal possession of a vehicle identification number, District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said. Bello, known as the East Coast Assassin in drag racing circles, owns Bellotech Performance on McQuesten Parkway in Mount Vernon, where he works on his racer and other cars. The owners of two neighboring shops also were charged with the same felony: Robert Benedettini, 42, of Yonkers, owner of Star Auto Body, and Anton Shkreli, 33, of the Bronx, owner of Evropa Motors. Pirro said investigators at Bello's shop seized two Porsche engines and two Porsche transmissions, all with defaced identification numbers. At Evropa, they took two Porsches with defaced identification numbers, plus a Mecedes Benz engine and five air bags, similarly defaced, she said. They also found an illegal 9 mm handgun, the district attorney said. And at Star Auto Body, they seized a partially dismantled and defaced Lexus sports utility vehicle and a small amount of the drug Ecstasy, she said. Pirro said the arrests stemmed from the investigation of a stolen-car ring that had specialized in swiping luxury vehicles from Westchester driveways and parking lots and shipping them to Asia. Eight men were arrested last month. Illegal possession of a vehicle identification number is punishable by up to four years in prison. More charges could be filed, says Pirro, if the men were shipping auto parts internationally. Last year, Today's NHRA magazine, which covers the National Hot Rod Association, said Bello, driving a white Porsche 911, had reached 161 mph while covering a quarter-mile in 9.17 seconds. Man, you dredged that one up from the depths.
Bello is back. He surfaced on the various BBSs several weeks ago. There is a video posted here on Pelican of his car pulling away from another at lightning speed. A nasty little discussion has evolved over on Rennlist concerning the validity of the video. |
