2018 BMW M5 - Production Starts!

According to the fine folks at BMWCCA, the sixth generation BMW M5 (F90) has started production - with delivery starting in Spring 2018. Its 600-horsepower 4.4-liter V8 engine with M Twin Power Turbo technology, makes this M5 is the quickest one ever; with a zero-to-60 time of 3.4 seconds. With a base price of $102,600 plus $995 Destination and Handling charge, the new M5 Sedan is not for everyone; but for those who can afford it, few other four-door sedans will come close to its combination of power, handling, safety, and technology.

What are your thoughts on the new beast? Is $100k the new standard for cars like the M5, RS6, and E63 AMG?

I think the $100k German high performance sedan is the new norm, especially when you can option out a base Boxster to over $100k.

Exactly! It's crazy to me how much and how fast prices drop. A buddy of mine bought the E60 M5 when it first came out for $86k I believe - a few years later, and you can purchase one for ~$25k with under 70k miles.

Exactly. Wait about 5 years and you can get yourself one helluva performance bargain on these performance sedans. Too bad the AMG GT, and the 911s don't depreciate like their sedan counterparts.
