Got hit today

I'm OK physically. A little pissed though. Dude turned in front of me and crunched the driver's side fender. He said he didn't see me...

Was about to install the Focus 9 solid state relay that arrived today and the set of Len Cumming's fuel lines that is coming Saturday. Might have to shelve those projects for now.

Worst part is I wanted to increase the agreed value with my insurance company since redoing the interior and paint but figured I could put it off another week or so. I just hope this is repairable.

That sucks but looks very repairable. New fender, bumper, and headlight for sure. Maybe time for H4s and a nice sport front bumper?

I hope you are correct, Bill.

I see some wonking of the bumper which has robust support brackets fastened to the front box.

Insurance companies freak when the front box is tweaked.

wow... looks like it's a good clean hit on the fender that didn't extend anywhere else. The wheel still turns freely? suspension still working good? driver's door opens freely?

Depending on if the impact got absorbed inside by the fuse panel... everything looks surprisingly well maintained at the impact zone.

I didn't check the suspension/steering yet but the hood opened no problem and the gaps around the driver's door look to be OK. Can I see the support brackets without removing the bumper?

Yes the front wheel spun freely but right turns were very wide. Tire didn't completely deflate until I got it home.

Here are a few more pics (sorry for the bad quality). I'm a total amateur at body work but the more I look the better I feel about it

Was expecting more crumpled-ness inside the front compartment.

Please ignore the stray wires in this pic. They're the vestiges of an aftermarket alarm...

Having just replaced my fenders, it looks like you made out okay. If there is any wrinkle to the fender attach apron, you can tap that out pretty easily.

That must make you feel really up set, like others have said
may not be to bad for the repairs, it reminded me about 6 months ago
i removed washer bottles up behind corner fender, so could clean out etc,
i was thinking re not to place back,instead use a smaller bottle, but thought
may be safer to place back in original position as could also help on any impact from
accident, perhaps that may have helped in your situation,hope it did.
Hope you get it all back and running great again soon.

make sure that the battery hasn't been cracked -- and if it has, be proactive in neutralizing any leaking acid

Sorry man! Thats a bad day.

It looks repairable. You won't really know the extent until it is disassembled, but find a good shop that knows their stuff and get a proper evaluation. I'll bet that the right guys can get you good as new.

Is that Venetian Blue? I've had a couple of folks tell me mine is hard to see (wtf), but I don't think it was anyone who's opinion I appreciated.

Thanks again for the encouraging words. I'll keep y'all posted. Spoke with the insurance company and they're sending an adjuster at some point. Called a reputable foreign car garage in town and got a recommendation on a qualified body shop.

Will check the battery, but looked to be OK upon initial glance. Interesting about the washer bottle -- I think your theory is valid

Thanks, man. It's slate blue metallic or at least it's supposed to be. Had it repainted a few months ago. I had been afraid of getting rear ended so recently added a Hella 3rd stop light from Daniel Stern. Turns out getting hit from the front is a hazard too

I bought a bunch of cars like this in the mid 80,s for $1500-2500 all day long.Parted them out.So sorry.Just business at the time.Ciao Fred Could have been repaired very easy.

I assume the Dodge PU was what hit you.
I tend to give pickups a wide berth (double defensive driving efforts) and Dodge PUs more than the usual PU. Call me biased. Good you are OK. I hit a dear on one head light - by the time I got all panels repainted in the front to match the total was only $11k. I forgot how much the ins. co. picked up - most of it. The ins. co. didn't want me to use my selected shop - took weeks and a number of phone calls and meetings to finally get them to agree to the repair est. provided by my shop.
