Freaky Incident
Still trying to figure this out.
I'm in my office and my daughter walks in. She stops, looks at the security camera monitor and asks "who is parked in front of the house with their lights on?" I reply, probably Amazon, I'm waiting on my last delivery of the day. I spin around and we watch the driver walk up to the door. I make it a habit to watch them because we have an issue with their delivery. Often it looks like they toss the package 30 ft from the street. So he approaches the door, pushes the doorbell then puts the package down. I think, that's weird, the doorbell did not ring, did he fake the doorbell push? The front door is 3 feet from my office, he stands up, I turn around and go to open the door and the chime goes off. I open the door and expect him to be standing there but he's already in his car putting it in gear and pulls away. I go back in and my daughter looks at me and says "he did not push the doorbell a second time, I was watching all the whole time" Apparently my security system can see into the future. Tomorrows experiment will be to see if I can get it to see 4 hours ahead, or at least the amount of time I need to point it at a TV to watch the live lotto drawing then haul ass to 7-11 and buy some tickets before the cutoff. |
He walks very fast and the door ringer mechanism is sticking.
(best guess) |
Might I request you put a stock ticker in front of your security camera?

You have just entered "The Twilight Zone". where time is a concept, and appearences can fool you.

Suggest you test the lag between pushing the button and the ringing of you door bell. Especially when pushed and released quickly. My doorbell is wireless and I can get halfway to where a delivery truck would stop before it chimes.
Usually by the time I can get to the door the delivery truck is gone and all hat is left is the package. |
Was it cold there? Is there ice in the plunger springy thing?

My alarm system has a video display of the front porch or the driveway. When I want to aim the cameras I use a phone app to see the video display. There is a 5 or 6 second delay for the signal to get bounced from the alarm system to their web site and back to me. The cameras ONLY point outside. I figure if the system is hacked the bad guys can watch my front porch or driveway until they die from boredom. It is unlikely to get hacked, but I know it is theoretically possible.
I also have a 4 camera DVR that is 100% local. The DVR is in my home office. It just records 7 days of video for 4 other outdoor cameras. Really really boring stuff. Mostly the dogs going out the doggie door to "do their business" or chase a squirrel. |
