U joints on a Tacoma
I'm going to do u joints and a center carrier bearing on my 99 Toyota prerunner. Looking at the u joints still on the driveshaft I don't see any retaining clips holding the caps in place. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance.

Not on U-joints, BUT........When I did my carrier bearing, I got cheap and bought a China made one off EBAY........Don't do that. It was a lot of grinding, cutting and swearing to make it fit....
.I'm sure there are good after-market ones available. Toyota wants like $350 if I recall......Seemed high to me...

Good name center bearings are ~50-$90 aftermarket. Circlips in the yokes, make sure its cleaned up. 2 piece shaft?

Yes, it’s a two piece drive shaft
I got my answer at the parts house. It’s a driveshaft that needs to be rebuilt. Takes maybe a week. Looks like it’s easier to buy a already rebuilt shaft with the carrier bearing new and already attached and just return mine as a core. |
