The worst part of these petty politics is that it is always the little guy that gets hurt. The wine producers, the oil sands workers, the fuel purchasers in BC, the second BC home or vacation property owners from Alberta.... These petty politics have made me question purchasing a BC property to retire to. It is pretty obvious that BC doesn't need my money, investment or for me to support the local economy. Oh well.

No offense to the eastern Canadian steel and aluminum industry but he sure as hell stood up for them in a hurry to the Trump administration when all the tariff talk began!

The steel and aluminium talks had nothing to do with Justin, Trump was finally told by his own people that US companies have owned most of them for years, really a small portion of the whole NAFTA deal.
As far as the pipeline goes, you Albertans are too sensitive, there is no way it will be allowed to stop now, but I do believe that more research has to be done to confirm what will be needed for a clean up when something goes wrong, Alberta will want nothing to do with that and really can't afford to clean up the leftover crap that has been left there over the years, so BC takes all the risk for the coastline and gets little payment and Alberta has no risk and gets majority of funds sound correct? If you think that the proper research has been done you are kidding yourself, that was the same smart people that invited a Khalistani Terrorist to dinner with him. Possibly more of the people from Alberta will stay there after retirement but I doubt that, at least 50% of the people that live near me are from there, so if you want to stay in 40 deg below temps all winter it will not bother me any, and saves health care resources for people that have actually paid into the system, you would not like what it costs to live here anyways.

If you want to whine about all the oil leaks that will need to be cleaned up, you should go take a look at the number of tankers you already have coming into port everyday. And maybe stop dumping your raw sewage into the same ocean you claim to care so much about.
Either way, a pipeline is going to get built. I'm starting to hope we go around BC, so they don't get any of the economic benefit. The oil will still be moving off your coast (with all the other tankers) so the ridiculously inflated worries of spills will still be there. ![]() First Nations pipeline has a plan to get around B.C. oil tanker ban — an old gold-rush town in Alaska | Financial Post

Thanks for bringing up the raw sewage thing, still can't believe Victoria still does that, they are too cheap to put in treatment plants, some are finally going in.
I realize it will be going through, the fed's already spent the money and they need the revenue.

Not to marginalize the extremely important issues which have to be addressed, one cannot help but get the feeling a large amount of this special interest group squabbling is just adding to the pile of bull$ch1t. Time to stop - I think the ant-hill is full. Now I have to move on to a more important issue for the moment - recovering from my St. Pat's Day hangover. Cheers JB

The failure lies profoundly and deeply within the hairpiece called J. Trudeau.
One of the elements of a working federalist model is there are elements of trade, security and whatnot that cannot depend on cooperation between the provinces and hence falls under federal jurisdiction, and beyond a duty to consult, is entirely in their domain. Key example are railroads who do not have to abide by municipal or provincial legislation (for example CP Rail is not subject to Quebec's language laws) as having to meet umpteen regulatory regimes to pull a train as a common carrier for the common good would be at the least farcical. Hence the vegetation known as Trudeau is failing abjectly at his duty. He cares more about making friends with Jordan than Belgium (to wit, the latest visit of the Belgian royal family where he did not deign to grace them with so much as a howdy...) and hates oil as it interferes with his internal dialogue about gender equality, aboriginal dominance and other such nonsense. His ****ing job is to tell BC to remove any impediments that might impair or otherwise cause the approved pipeline to fail, be more costly for its owners or otherwise cause them grief or he stops paying their transfer payment and sends in both privates and the corporal that form the Canadian Partially Armed Gentle Forces to enforce the ****ing LAW. If we had a premier in this province who was not a global warming nutcase who got elected by accident, then she would hoist her skirts and cut 10% of the flow per week until the Green martians in British California take notice or perhaps just expire whereupon they can be returned to the environment they worship over the welfare of their fellow human beings. Personally, BC can go **** itself, I would put on an embargo out of Alberta for a minimum of 6 months and teach a lesson their blessed people and BC government will never forget. Oh yeah, and the folks in Montreal I wish even less upon....their behaviour on the Energy East pipeline after sucking on the Alberta economic tit for the past 40 or 50 years is reprehensible. I really want another separation vote where I can vote the ****ers off to take care of their bastardized dialect of French all on their own. Kinder Morgan halts Trans Mountain pipeline expansion amid B.C. opposition
Kinder Morgan Canada Limited (KML) has suspended all “non-essential activities and related spending” on the expansion of its Trans Mountain pipeline, the company said in a Sunday news release. The release said that the company will “not commit additional shareholder resources” to the project in light of “continued actions in opposition to the project” by B.C.’s provincial government. Kinder Morgan said it would consult with stakeholders with a view to reaching agreements by May 31 that “may allow the project to proceed.” https://globalnews.ca/news/4131315/kinder-morgan-pauses-trans-mountain-pipeline-expansion-amid-b-c-opposition/ That was the goal all along. Screw around long enough that the company just gives up, and moves out of this third world country. Time to go around BC.

And when the 50 year old pipeline has a failure they will take their sweet time to commit resources to repair it. When people in Vancouver pull up to the pumps to fill up and they are told there is no gas I wonder how long it will be before a new pipeline is approved?

All right British Columbians. I have had it up to my eyeballs with your willful blindness to environmental issues in your own province.
So, as of now, I am a charter member of the Facebook Page “Save BC’s Environment” – the purpose of which is to highlight the many real and pressing environmental issues that your political leaders refuse to take action on. Let’s start with Thursday’s investigative report from Star Metro which found that British Columbia is the nation’s worst offender when it comes to allowing untreated sewage to enter Canadian rivers and oceans. Of the 120 million cubic metres per year in Canada as a whole, British Columbia is responsible for nearly one-third of the problem. That’s right..... ....... B.C. has created an international incident with its embarrassing handling of mine management and cleanup. Alaskans have asked their government to deal with the Tulsequah Chief Mine in northwest B.C., which is leaking acid waste into one of the richest salmon runs in the region – and has been for 60 years........ https://globalnews.ca/news/4141162/danielle-smith-bc-environment/

Not to mention that the port of Vancouver is one of the largest exporters of COAL...all going to the Asian markets.....last time I checked coal is still considered a fossil fuel.
Here's my idea: If Trudeau fails to back Alberta and the rest of Canada in getting KM to complete the Trans Mountain pipeline project, we should NOT "turn off the tap"on the existing pipeline. We should continue to supply BC's "friendly" interior ...the Okanagan, Kamloops, Shuswap, etc BUT we should turn off the tap at the Burnaby refinery. If BC's lower mainland don't want our "dirty" oil..I say Pfukc 'em! We'll sell their share to the Asian market. This should keep everybody happy...correct?!?
