here..some kitchen fun: the fast cake.
i poached this and it works!!
you know when you're done with dinner and the dishes are done.. sitting on the couch and someone says.."what do we have for dessert?" you dont have to say anything resembling "nothing, here's an apple (ever again)" gather up the following ingredients: this is for one MUG cake. dry ingredients: (you can mix these right into your best coffee mug, i like a smaller mug so it comes up to the top) 3 Tbsp All Purpose Flour 1 Tbsp white sugar 1 Tbsp brown sugar 2 tsp cocoa powder (not the stuff you mix with milk) 1/4 tsp baking powder pinch of salt combine the following wet ingredients: 3 Tbsp milk 1 Tbsp Vegetable oil 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional) now introduce the two together..mix until it is a wet cake batter. nuke it. here is where you will need to experiment some. i dont know what microwave you have. do you have your dorm room 700 watt reject..or are you running some nuclear experiment? my 1000 watt from Costco took 40 second..i think i might dial it back to 38. dust with powdered sugar, or sprinkle on some flakey salt. if you want. let rest..shovel. you are targeting a lava cake like consistency. goo and cake in all the bites. |
My 4 year old loves these cakes. Especially with a little food coloring and sprinkles.

3 2 1 cake is much easier, although not as fancy:
Buy one boxed chocolate cake mix. Buy one boxed angel food cake mix. Combine the dry ingredients and keep handy in a mason jar on the counter. When you want a snack, take 3 TB scoops of the dry mix into a small microwave safe bowl. Add 2 TB of water and mix with a spoon. Microwave for 1 minute. You can then add chocolate or caramel syrup with whipped cream on top as well. This is a great evening snack - I enjoy mine with my nightcap cup of coffee. |
