Have you ever cleaned inside bottom of dish washer?

Odd smell?

“oh, 1st thing.. clean filter”

“WHAT FILTER?”!

I just disassembled the inside basin of my machine. Good lord! I damn near contemplated buying a new machine. Sacrificed my brand new toothbrush in the process.

Yes, many years ago, I had my missus change the soap that we used because it was causing buildup on the filters on the bottom which was killing the water flow and impacting the cleaning ability.

I just cleaned the one in our current place because it wasn't cleaning as well. A little time and it was practically like new.

I clean the filter just about every time.
Grit and lack of water will ruin any type of fluid pump.

Also run it only after water is hot.
Add extra water and use fill for the first cycle.
Ten years. So far so good.

I suspect you could buy a new filter for $5-20 someplace, if you wanted to go that route vs cleaning it.

I run one of these through about once a month. Cleans, deodorizes, and makes the glasses clear and free of scale even with the hard water we have here.
The difference before and after is obvious.

2nd Bosch and the dishes don't get very clean when filter is clogged.
I can leave the dishes dirty and clean filter often, or clean junk off dishes and filter every 3 mos.

I was using (too much) vinegar before, but noticed rubber seals were getting affected.

My 15 year old Kenmore does a great job all the time.
Have never cleaned the bottom...it's still shiny.
I think water softness has a lot to do with it.

This is the bottom of my dishwasher and it gets cleaned every time I do dishes. Let it sit and the cat gets in there and starts snacking...

I've never had to clean my dishwasher's bottom. It appears to take care of itself.

Then you ain’t doin it right WD!

I think I’m the only one that knows that there’s a filter in the bottom of our Kitchen Aid. LOL.

++ on the periodic disinfectant. I also run a little CLR once a quarter or so.

My dishwasher repair friend said do a once a week (to me that means once a month) hot wash, no detergents, no dishes, to wash the crud out. Don't ever use Eco mode as it's not hot enough.

Also do the same with the laundry washing machine.

And don't use supposedly friendly washing products as they are plant based and gum up the pipes and internals of the machines.

We seem to have the same model, and self cleaning function.

This isn't exactly like mine, but it's about 90% the same. The main filter is very similar and comes out the same way. Mine didn't have the catch basket inside.

That was our problem, probably 10 years ago. The missus started buying some eco friendly thing and it got caked on the filter. We are again using the eco friendly stuff and it works basically the same as the other brands these days.
