Is there much to do in Albuquerque
Wife's flying out for a graduation. I have never been there so I am thinking about driving out with kids to meet up with her after the graduation mess and see the place. We like to see Carlsbad Cavern but heard the elevator is broken and its a 3 mile walk down and on the way up is pretty steep. This means I might have to lug kid's back pack:(. No t too interested in car stuff and I wouldn't let em' pull on my door handle this time around unless they are hot chicks with little clothes on:)

Was there for Balloon Fest a few years ago. So my time was limited.
Carlsbad Caverns is not close at all. Probably a 3-4 hour drive, its closer to El Paso. Santa Fe is close by and is a great place! North about an hour or less drive. El Pinto restaurant in Alb: Home Owl Cafe | The Owl is original green chili cheese burger. Their original location in San Antonio NM is next to the Trinity Nuke test sight and Openheimer and others would stop in for burgers. Roswell is on the way to Carlsbad!! http://www.roswellufomuseum.com/ |
There is a museum there for atomic weapons that's probably pretty cool.

When is graduation?
I heard great things about owl cafe. Never been. |
If you have the time and are interested in ancient history, Bandelier National Monument is an interesting place to visit and not far from Albuquerque .

Been a while but Albuquerque proper was not much to see. Native ruins are awesome and north to Santa Fe is worth the trip.

I have time, and don't have any issue driving 4-5 hours to other parts of the state. Roswell is a must for my wife and kids. They will get a kick out of it. Looks like lunch at the Owl. I can use some green chili cheese burger right about now

The state highways are 4 lanes and like Interstates without the traffic. Back roads all the way to Roswell and Carlsbad.
Another thing to see in Santa Fe is the Loretto Chapel. It has this historic spiral staircase that is held up by faith, magic, air. At any rate, it supposedly should not be standing from an engineering stand point but it is. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1525045930.jpg https://www.lorettochapel.com/info/staircase |
And on the way to Carlsbad is White Sands National Monument. Take a cardboard box and go box surfing.

It’s a couple of hours away but the VLA (Very Large Array) is pretty cool.

Watch your rental car...I believe ABQ is #1 in the nation for car theft. A friend was there over Christmas, sure enough her car got stolen during her visit.
