Dryer Vent
 

In another "change" on this project, the need to move the dryer from its current location. Right now the vent comes from the back of the dryer to an immediate vent outside. In the change, looking at stacking the dyer, and moving the vent to where it will go through the wall, down about 5 ft, from stacked height, then another 2.5 ft to an exit out of the wall. Is there any issues with making that dryer vent that long?

as I recall an elbow is 5' equivalent length, so 2 el's + 8' of pipe = 18'.

Most dryers are rated for 30'+

Don't use plastic (coil wire) flex hose, if you need flex keep it short and use the metal stuff that has the smoother wall.

Edit: also don't screw the metal duct together, use metal tape. Screws catch lint.

7.5 feet isn't a really long run compared to some of the setups I've seen.

The other nice thing working for you is that you are blowing stuff down. Try blowing it up 8 feet and then across a room about 20 feet. That's what's in my basement at my other house. Guess how well that works. using Dad's conversion- it's about a 15(three elbows)+8+20 ft run. ugh.

I was happy to install a new dryer in the master closet with a straight run of about 10 feet.
