The little girl is a friend of mine that is now in her mid 80s now. So this picture is sometime from the 1930s.

A friend (the boy on the right) just gave her this scan of this picture. She is wondering what the car is.

This is the cropped view of the grill and windshield. The wipers are from the top.

Any ideas on what car it is?

Hood ornament is pretty unique and looks like DeSoto. ?

I'm in agreement that it's a Dodge. Here's what a hood ornament and grille badge from a '34 Dodge look like from a different angle....

I did find out from her that she was born in 1936 and she guesses she was 3 or 4 in the photo. So 1940 is pretty much the last year for a car to be considered.

The Dodge Brothers is looking likely. The emblem in the front and the hood ornament and the wipers are looking right. The car above has a flat grill, not bent back in a V shape like the photo. But it has the family resemblance.

Dodge Brothers became part of Chrysler in 1928.Dont know how much longer the name was used before becoming Dodge.

I am going with 34 as well. The bumpers on the later cars do not have the downward dip.

Also rear window looks more rectangular than later models. Note same vertical stripes in bumperettes.

I think drkshdw nailed it, the top of the grill has the right shape as well. There also appears to be some type of knob shaped item farther down the body near the roof in the old picture that seems to match the parts on the ‘34 picture.

Door hinges. Suicide style. Too many clues matching up for it not to be the Dodge.

Win for drkshdw!

+1

I'd say 1934 Dodge Brothers DRXX Coupe. Or could be DR or DS trim.

MSRP: Under $700 back in the day!
