Ot Saab!!!!!

Just found these pictures on my pc, I made this car with one of my buddies in high school, well made it what it is. It started out as a nasty metallic light green with flaking paint, we got it for free and used it as a school project. We called it an ART Car and got to use to last month of our senior year of high school to work on it, and we got credit for it!! It's Ferrari yellow, the stripes are painted on, there are flames ont he side that are decals. It was a fun project and didn't cost us anything, a body shop sponsored us because it was a school project. What do you guys think? The car still runs, my brother has it, it has well over 200k on it and it's still going strong.http://www.pelicanparts.com/pmpre/im...44na/Saab2.jpg

The Classic 900's are awesome, i have a 1990 turbo that im trying to sell, i love it though, they are a major pain to work on but are cool cars. Is that a turbo or just the 900S

it's just an S, but I think my bro is going to put an spg body kit on it and put in a turbo motor. I can't believe this one ran as well as it did, we hardly had any problems with it and it has a ton of miles

nice it has a modern look, kinda like a Mini Cooper

Roastin944 02-26-2003 03:27 PM

thats awesome, is it a 2 door? Ive always wanted a SPG kit for mine, they are pretty rare and pricey though. Tell him to just buy my saab for the turbo motor and other stuff!

it is a 2 door, he really loves the car and has found an spg for sale, I think he'll use it as he really likes the body kit and wheels that came on the spg's.

You painted it yourself i take it? Looks like you did a good job and a cool looking car

hehehe, sweet. I am doing a painting project for school 2 man, I am 15. This project is going to be a sophomore-senior auto improvement for my senior expo. We take something we want to do for an occupation, and we work on it, and show what we can do. I am going to paint my 924S bright bright red. I have a mechanic in my area of Iowa (down the street from my house) that treats me as the son he never had. He drives bimmers, and he sold me one and I love it, but my new love is my Porsche 924S project. I have a mere $3,000 wrapped up in it sofar. That's (windshield/rear hatch/car)=$500 car=$2,500.
N-e-ways, he has taught me alot, and he lets me use his heated shop, and his wide selection of snap-on-tools at my disposal. Any Time I can bring my car in there and work on it. He tells me what to do, and I do it. well, I have kinda said alot, but I really hope to bring this ryde together the right way.

I drove a Saab once. Hope I never have to again. Ever.

aw come one, Saab's aren't that bad, don't be such a car snob :) (not that I'm one to talk) We got the car for free for our project, that's why it's a saab, but we grew to love it. We did all the prep work for the paint, used a little bondo, and we painted the stripes, the manager of the body shop painted it yellow for us, it;s really nice paint with like 4 coats of clear. It was a really fun project and I learned so much doing it.

I have never driven a saab. Are they quick? when I was still at my old school, all ov my friends would be trying to slam me for driving an older european car, and now 3/5 of them drive 84' saabs, lol. I think that is jealousy at its best there. :) It's nice what you did with that car though. It DOES have that vintage type of a mini touch to it, I likes

Saabs are great cars. I had the earlier 99 model and, as a student, used to literally live in it. It wasn't fast but it was really easy to work on and fix with parts from the scray yard. R'spect to your 900.

Nice paint job. I like the yellow/black combo.

I don't think I'm a car snob. I'm not a Porsche only type of guy at all. But you have to admit, Saabs are goofy. The seating position, the handling, everything about the car is just goofy, down to the ignition switch! If a Saab was the first car you ever drove, you would probably hate every other car on the planet for being goofy.

I would sob if I had to drive a Saab.

Nice looking car! A friend of mine had a 900 and if my memory serves me correctly it was very reliable and had a surprisingly large interior. I remember hauling a huge picnic table in it once.

85944na 02-27-2003 09:37 AM

Thanks for all your nice comments guys! It was a really fun project. I wish I had some better pics, but I don't right now, if I can get my bro to take some more I'll post those later. Dantilla, I was joking about the car snob thing. Saab's are strange, but I've driven much worse, and they seem great as workhorses.

Dantilla 02-28-2003 08:41 AM

It is a cool paint job, even if it is on a Saab.

I'm helping a friend to shoehorn 2.3L turbo SAAB engine into 911 body... does that count?

160 kg, 300+ HP B234 shortblock, 600$ at local scrapyard... (930 300 hp engine weights 263 kg)

Say what you want, but saab engines and engine managment are light years ahead porsche...

And yeah, i drove 930 for many years...also had saab 9000T w/ 27kmiles on odometer ... they are weird but they are built by hard-core engineers and i like it :-)
