Hi Hong Kong Porschites

For what its worth, hi to everyone from Hong Kong.........yeah right

When can we meet for a drive around the Island, Kowloon and NT?

I await your many replies with less expectation than my boss ever expecting me to stop looking at the 911 tech board each hour of the day

Cheers
Mark

Delayed reply

I've got a 993TT, and have two friends in my office, one with a 993S (from OZ) and the other with a 993 C4 cabriolet. Let me know if you want to keep in touch.

Bummer........should have driven with the Porsche Club HK this morning but........

In the process of replacing a bushing on the shift selector on saturday, I tightened a coupling bolt too tight and sheared the bolt!

Drove down to Jebsen to get a new bolt but of course it was a public holiday yesterday so they were closed. So was every damn place I went looking for a spare bolt of similar size!

So now I have to wait till Monday for Jebsen to open.

Anyone interested in a drive next weekend?

Also thinking about organising a Karting trip either to

www.aaamykart.com.hk

or into China

for all those with some connection to www.pelicanparts.com/Mororcity/ntpo

let me know guys if your interested............

Cheers,
Mark

Hi all,

Two drives I know of for May...

First Sunday in May is the PCHK morning drive.

Third Sunday in May is the NTPO morning (later) drive.

Anyone interested?

Cheers
Mark

PS do you know about the International Porsche Meetup Day in Hong Kong? Check out the website by typing in 'International Porsche Meetup Day Hong Kong' in Google. (sorry cant remember the actual web site address this late in the evening )

Hi Jeff,

Not sure at this stage. They usually email us during the week, but at this stage I imagine it will be the Shek O beach carpark (one without the restuarants). For the last six or so drives we've met there. Before then it use to be mixed up a bit. The best one was when we met up at the Shatin Racecourse.

Anyhow, I'll let you know as soon as I recieve word.

I think it should be a good turn out as I have four new people with 964's to TT993's who are coming also.

Cheers
Mark

Mark,

From your message, I gather that the tentative plan is to meet at the Shek O non-restaurant carpark, then drive back out to some place for breakfast. Is that correct? So, around what time do you think the next meet will be at?

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Yep thats my best guess at this stage.

Meeting at Shek O at 7am, drive for a while then breakfast at some club. Everyone goes their own way after breakfast.

I'll confirm asap.

Hope you guys can make it.

Cheers
Mark

7am... at least that's better than 6am. I was already thinking of sleeping in my car the night before the meet at Shek O!! By the way, do you roughly know the number of drivers that will be attending

Jeff

Hah hah...sorry about the time - definitely 7am!

Usually about 30 cars. Most I've seen was around 50, least was about 20.

I've had emails from quite a few people who have come via the New Territories Porsche Owners site requesting information about the PCHK drive also, so maybe this one will see a number of new cars turning up. You don't need to be a member to join the drive and breakfast.

Cheers
Mark

Cool

Even 7 am is brutal. The problem I have is that I'm still young and irresponsible enough to go out boozing most Saturday nights. The Sunday morning drive forces me to choose between having my night out versus meeting up with the gang.

Excellent!

I'll forward to you the PCHK email I just got, but its definitely Sunday meeting at Big Wave Bay carpark and finishing at Tai Mei Tuk with a drive down Route Twisk along the way (yeah).

Are R compound tyres legal in HK?

I've seen several cars with minimal tread depth on R compounds - do the Police look out for this or do you have to be doing something stupid (which invariably I am!) to get busted?

I've been recommended the Advan ADO7's which are a part R composite compound. Anyone know about these?

Other than that I guess the SO3's are the go but are expensive - what do you guys run and recommend.

What about Yoko 048's - way cheaper

Hoping for clear skys (well just no rain will do)

Cheers
mark
