It's Different, But Yet The Same

My new car is different, but yet still a Porsche.

I thought about this long and hard....what could possibly follow my 964? I did not want to try to replace by beloved C2, she was irreplaceable. After my mishap, I have a new found appreciation for safety and having a fair bit of metal around me. Even though my airbags did not deploy, I wanted side-impact airbags as well as frontal-impact bags. I've also been without a topless car for far too long. I wanted to stay within the family, but wanted something totally different. My roots go back to the 914, as I love the mid-engine handling, but I couldn't drive an early car everyday. I loved the power of the 3.6 in my 964 and the more modern conveniences she offered. My answer.........

Go with a 986!

Details are as follows:

2003 986 Boxster S
Tipronic
Seal Gray exterior
Light Gray interior
Carrera style 5-spoke wheels
43,000 mile lease return with 9 months left on factory warranty
Bose audio system
Litronic headlights
Glass rear window
Oh, and my first Porsche with a cupholder!

For those of you that don't know much about the 986, it is an "S", which has 996 brakes, 257 hp 3.2 engine and stiffer suspension. The tip will be an interesting experience. Almost like learning to drive all over again. I have already experienced several advantages over the manual. It is great to keep my hands on the wheel the entire time I am driving aggressively, and shifting is very fast.

This will not be your average stock Boxster....it will be a 986 S done up right. Here are some pics:

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another 986 convert!

The Boxster is a great car. Mine is not even and S, and love the immediate power thats available. Razor handling. I am in to my seond month of Boxster ownership, and loving it.

If the car came with the original battery, I would suggest changing it before you get to 4 years. Sears has a battery that fits perfectly for about $110. If you are going to do it yourself, make sure you have the codes to reset the radio, and it will lock if there is not power for 30 seconds. I avoided this by taking jumper cables and attaching them to the leads as I took them off the old battery. Easy......except you need to stand in the front trunk to lug that old battery out!

Congrats!!!!

Welcome back to the mid-engine world. I love my 951 every inch, but I have to say that I still miss the 914 that's back in Ohio. I'll bring her out here someday.

Great Car Scott, now you just need to put in the clear sidemarkers in place of the orange ones.

HardDrive: Phi Delta Phi, it's a legal fraternity from when I was in school.

Brandon: I agree with you 110%. You carry them in stock down there? How much we talking? You can PM me with your response if you like.

OMG; you hit your head harder than we thought! Just kidding; that looks like an awsome car. Congratulations. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. Will you be there for Saturday breakfast? Gonna enter it in the car show?

Congrats! It's just going to take me a while to register a non-coral-red car with "Scooter"

Looking forward to seeing it in person.

My Boxster is a 5-speed, but in reality, it only wishes it was as cool as this one, Tip or not.

But hell, now that I said that, I'll get yet another weird glitch on the way home, oh well.
