Paint Rookie
Do not have a clue regarding paint but want to learn. Thinking I would start experimenting painting small items such as engine tin, wiper arms, gear shift lever, etc.
What compressor, gun etc is required to do a great/ excellent job? Don't want to break the bank on equipment but aslo do not want something I will throw away after a few months Not looking at painting an entire car- Just small stuff. Any recommendations on books, youtube videos etc to help educate me? Not taking lightly the skill required to paint, I understand it's prep and materials but intrigued to gain knowledge and at least a minimal skill set. Thanks everyone. |

Hi Speedster911,
I am getting set up to do paint as well and had this question about a year ago. I way over shop/compared for my compressor. Look at the link below. I would highly recommend NOT going with one of the big box brands. I ended up going with a Puma and so far it is awesome, I would recommend for sure. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/paint-bodywork-detailing-forum/976590-what-air-compressor-line-filter-water-trap-kit-get.html Good luck, Rodney

Get a compressor with the most CFM and highest psi rating you can afford.
