Best Body and Paint Shop in So Cal
I have searched the forum for old posts for the best body/paint restoration shop in Southern CA and have come up with the following:
John Esposito, Freddy Hernandez Victor Miles Sonoran Classic Restoration (Scottsdale AZ) The posts were not current so asking for additional suggestions for the highest quality work. I can also consider Central CA too. The shop will need to produce perfect gaps and laser straight bodies and of course any fabricating necessary to achieve this. The 911 will be delivered and picked up from body shop as a bare body/chassis. Any and all suggestions are appreciated and accepted with full disclaimer. I plan on visiting any or all of these shops to see in person recent work as quality can fluctuate based on current work forces. Thanks, Paul |

Auto Art Customs in Torrance, CA- owner Kent Simmons. He is a master beyond the levels I have ever seen. He did all of the body/paint on my '71 914-6 to concours perfection. This car is 100% metal finished; no filler. Here is a quick picture of the car as it is now being assembled. The body is laser straight and the paint looks like a mirror.
You are right on the money when it comes to visiting the shop in advance of selection. I made a huge mistake and sent my car elsewhere, out of state, based upon multiple recommendations, w/o visiting the shop first. That decision nearly cost me my car. Fortunately I rescued it in the nick of time and took it to Kent who was able to completely correct all of the questionable work and return the chassis to factory, or better, perfection, resulting in the car you see in the pictures.

Reviving this old thread as I am in the market for a body shop that can do some final detail work including weatherstripping clean up. Specifically I need someone who can redo the rubber gasket around the venting rear quarter panel windows, rear windshield, the rubber gasket between the rear bumper and rear "Porsche" reflector, velvet liner around the sunroof, and some other minor finishing items to get the car show ready.
Any thoughts on who would be a good shop to address these issues without completely breaking the bank and located in the so cal central coast cal area? I'm an hour north of Santa Barbara. Appreciate the advice.
