Rocker and jacking point replacement

Hi all, I'm about to replace the jacking point and inner rocker. Behind the jacking point there are both the end piece of the inner rocker as well as the end piece of the wheelhouse metal (so it's an overlap). Once cutting out the jack piece and the metal behind, at length with the inner rocker replacement part, this overlap no longer exists. Is this an issue, as the replacement piece is quite thick? Is this replacement piece (inner rocker) best overlap or butt welded to the rear wheelhouse metal (just after the jacking point)?

Thanks in advance

Dennis

Hi Dennis!

The replacement piece actually does exist, available through Stoddards:

I used an pneumatic flanger to create a lip to enable an easy to make extremely solid lap weld. I also like to cut the replacement panels down to the minimal size of patch simply because I like to preserve as much of the original as possible:

I noticed that the replacement inner rocker panel pressing was a thicker gauge of steel, not the stock thickness, so it would seem like something was wrong when you go to join the two sections but it's OK.
